Right this minute I am working on doing an AVG of your scores (with some mods). I don't like the idea of averaging the last 10 challenges because some have entered some haven't and I don't think that would be a fair fight. If I can't get it set up the way I would like I will revert back to the way we did it last season. |

Why don't you just used their current score average....we all have one of those!

What I want to do is let everyone enter the first week of challenges and use that as a base score. Since everyone will be excited about the first challenge most of everyone enters (see past challenges) I will use that score as a base for the following weeks. Depending on the difference of week 2 from week 1 will give the average for each person. The top 5 averages will be the team average. |

That seems like a very small sample to get an average from. Also, wouldn't that let people use a mediocre shot their first week so that their 2nd week score would be much better?
ETA: What date does the tournament start??

This is why I didn't want to get into it right now..
What I mentioned was just a summed up explanation of how the scores will work. I PROMISE everyone I will explain the scoring system completely before the season starts. There will be extra points and others numbers that keep people from trying to cheat the system.
Again I don't even know if I can get it all to work right but I will let everyone know on Monday what points system we will be using. |

Not sure I follow this entirely, but perhaps if everyone was given a base average of 5.0 to start this would do what you intend. Then everyone either beats or does not beat their average and then their rolling average updates and they have to beat their new average the next week. Otherwise, I am unsure how the first week's scoring works. Just my two cents, I am sure whatever you come up with will work on fine.

You may want to use the DPC date format "Submission: Sep. 1st - Sep. 7th" to remove any confusion on whether it is a "start taking photo" or a "submit photo deadline" date

Sheesh, keeping up with almost 120 weekly averages and adjusting scores accordingly sounds like a REAL pain in the rump. So, although it would certainly benefit someone like me, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to keep doing the Olympics the old fashioned way.
That way Scott and DD can relax a little and we can get this show on the road and take some pictures. |

No the start of the season will be on the 16th. The first challenge everyone will enter will be whatever the challenge name is on the morning of the 17th. |

We make everything automated so it only takes about 10 minutes from start to uploaded. It's not bad. |

Is this part of the TEAM "NAME IS OPEN" group? Looks like I'm mapped to that one, along with michaelc, eaglebeck, Intelli, crafty, and truegsht. |

I was trying to create a TEAM-SOMETHING from the "NAME IS OPEN".
If that is okay with dirt_diver, I'm not exactly sure how this works.
If we still have time?
Then UK and ICELAND may fill up. If they don't, do we combine them?
If it is okay, then all possible members need to comunicate acceptance to the proposed team.
Otherwise, just put me on the "TEAM OPEN", or wherever there is space available.

We could use your talent on the Midwest team! |
I'm been definitely a Midwesterner, all my life so far.
If there is room left let me know, they seem to be filling up fast.
Added:(went from page 11 to 16 in one day)
I think the 1st challenge entered is on the 17th (4 posts Up)
