So I have a Roku Soundbridge and it has this very annoying loose connection for the cable that inputs to the amplifier which causes a loud electric reverb. I've always wondered what causes this. Is the problem more likely with the cord or with the connection inside the Roku? It's one of those things you can fix by moving or touching the cord and it always drives you mad because you can never get it in the sweet spot so it stays off when you let go.

Any tips for a fix? The Soundbridge is far past warranty.

Does it sound like mains hum ? (sound sample at that link)

If so, it's a pretty common problem that happens when the ground (the shielding part) of the cable or connector isn't connecting properly. Are you using the coax or rca cable output on the box? I'd say try a new audio cable. With some coax cables you can unscrew them, cut them back and tidy them up, and reassemble them to give the shielding a better connection.

Ya, it sounds like that. The link is with a jack that looks like a headphone jack but splits to two RCA jacks. I could try some headphones to see if I get the same thing in which case I'd know it was the connector.
