Jeb, yes I expected to get stomped. :) I think you misunderstood my post as frustration. I am not frustrated at getting spanked for entering what I did, I knew it would get killed.

I was just using the opportunity of the soapbox to once again waste my time suggesting an improvement that would make things better. If anything that is the frustration.

I am good with the low scores, I am not always a sheep...baaaaahhhhhh!

Don't forget to sign up on this thread if you want to be part of the next round of DP Olympics which start on sept 16th and last 12 weeks.

Karen I read the article on the Zone Plate and it confused the hell out of me! I think the shots you have taken with it are very cool. :)

I get this from right click and 'copy image location'

//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/57229/thumb/602207.gif

so 602207 in the thingy window gives me:

which is good :)

portfolio 57229 is inaccessible these days, but maybe the URL above will still work...

Congratulations :)

Oh, okay.....I thought you were upset.

I don't think that the comments issue is ever going to get better. I'm sorry to say that I do think it's gotten worse since I first came aboard two years ago.

Okay, Cool! I know one of my proudest moments was an entry I got spanked hardest on.....I also got the second highest number of comments, 70, eclipsed only by my flash-in-the-pan ribbon at 71.

That *IS* one way to get comments.....piss 'em off! LOL!!!

There's somewhere you'll never find me......or at least for a while. I do poorly enough without being under the gun for a deadline.

Funny thing is, that exact concept is why I signed on at the local newspaper to be a stringer.....I figure it'll help me with challenges.

I admire all of you who take on that task. Good luck!

ETA: I dunno if you were going for the brown, Karen, but congrats.

Thanks! And no, I wasn't "going for it", although I understood it wouldn't do well.

I'm glad to know this as I will need it for the overexposed challenge. Currently scoring a whopping 3.7. I thought about pulling it out but someone has to finish last and it might just as well be me.

What I don't get is it meets all the requirements for the challenge, so I guess the shot just sucks.

MAX!

here's another zone plate for you all

I rather stupidly did not get around to processing this until Sept. 1, otherwise this might have ended up my FS (ended up skipping the August FS, so no update button for me) - probably just as well, as my average likely couldn't take another 3.0 hit so soon after the last one...

ETA - a viewing hint - apparently things look better the farther you are away from the monitor. Not in the next room, like, but not with your face a few inches from the screen, either. :)

Nice one - you do seem to be on a roll at the moment, and long may it last!

I am having some MAJOR buyers remorse right now. I just cannot 'love' my D60 like I did my D50. Heck, I barely even LIKE this camera.
And I cannot get my D50 back - it was discontinued, and my trade-in has long since been sold :(

I took 2 of my lenses into Henry's today - my 70-300mm Sigma, and my beloved 50mm/1.8 - neither work on the D60
I got $150 gift card for them, and used part of that on a monopod.

I'm feeling a MAJOR funk about photography right now.

Feelin' for you.

I'm sure you've already totted up the positives:

It is a camera.
Less lenses means more discipline (maybe).
We love them but even so, they are only things.
The more you learn to use the tools you have, the better you are when you get the tools you want.

I heard Sigma do a mean 30mm f 1.4...

I thought I was unlucky having no shoes, until I met a man with no feet.

But don't let me stop you funking - you've earned it...

fixed linky - probably we should leave poor Karen Walker alone. :)

Hey everyone.

First, I want to give a big THANKS to quiet_observation for picking up my slack on posting results for the last few weeks. I've been caught up with too much real life stuff to keep up with things here. I'll try to get back on track with the automated postings. Does anyone need to be added to any teams?

I haven't had much time with the camera either, but hopefully that will change in the next couple of weeks.

Damn that real life stuff - can't live with it, can't live without it. Amen.

Good to see you're still alive.

I have an obscene - and I mean truly obscene - score going in Dolls. I expect to be well and truly flogged by my fellow Suckmates when that one ends. It's cool to have an obscene score, but the shot will remain on my top row until I die at this rate. I guess I'll learn to love it, yes? :-)

Doing well in my other two - both high 5's, and both shots with which I'm very pleased. But lest you think I've given up on sucking, feel free to review my scores prior to these. I can still suck with the best of them.
