Right you are and it's good of you to do it. This isn't exactly a matter of life or death, so it's not like anyone's about to start cheating... - - attempts to whistle innocently while minutely examining plasterwork on ceiling - - is it?

I just got back from a week camp. My horse score surprised me. It's doing much better than I had expected and will easily get me through to the next round. I'm going with my freestudy entry for the next week as I haven't had time to think up or shoot anything for the other challenges.

Dennis, I need you!

You have him, Andi. :)

Dennis anticipated your question in a post in the later stages of the thread and in the opening post: by default, the member challenge Double Take is the "first" of the Sunday challenges, with the FS second. I've copied the relevant part here:

Originally posted by Dennis in the first post of the thread:

Remember: the first challenge you enter this week is the one that counts, unless you tell me otherwise before rollover. See Rule 3. The default order of challenges for this week is: 1. Double Take, 2. Free Study, 3. Open challenges. If you enter Double Take but want to use your Free Study shot or one of the Open challenges for this tourney, you need to PM me or post here before Sunday rollover. Same deal if you enter FS but want to use one of the opens. If you only enter one challenge this week, or want to use the first challenge you enter (determined as above), you don't need to do anything.

So if you want to put in Double Take, you need do nothing. If you enter Double Take but want the FS to be your side tourney entry, you have to speak up. Same thing if you enter Double Take or the FS but want your open challenge to be in the side tourney.

Oh, and I'll be in the FS for this tourney. :)

Thanks for the reminder! Surprisingly, I got something decent in for Abstract B/W and I'm pretty sure I'll be moving on. I'll take the Free Study for my next week's score. I guess I might change my mind, but that's the call for now.

Just in case my first post was missed. I will be using the FS.

Good Luck!

Mine is slooooooooowly headed in the right direction as well. . . . Still pretty sure it won't make it, but I do have a Free Study entry in, just in case.

I feel pretty bad tonight folks so shall start grabbing your average scores for week 6 and post them soonest. On my return from work tomorrow I'll go see the Horse scores for those of you that entered it ;)

No chance of me progressing as I'm currently 0.5 behind my average - was fun whilst it lasted and a pity as I have a stonking FS shot (imho of course)

Hardly state of the art peeps but here are the averages those (that might be) heading into week 6 need to beat ;)

Greetings from Quebec! Thanks Andi for pulling the averages, and thanks Jeffrey for clearing up the confusion on picking your week 6 entries. A quick scan of the thread has andrewt, Trumpeteer4, tfarrel23, levyj413 and EBJones down for the Free Study over the Double Take if they happened to enter both. For everyone else its Double Take if you entered that one, FS if you didn't, and one of the Opens if you didn't enter either DoubleTake or FS.

Good luck everyone, and congrats to the week 5 survivors. I'll try to check back in on Weds if I have an internet cnxn and update the score sheet and OP. For now, its off to Charlevoix. Au revoir!

I totally bombed out, went down in flames, crashed and burned.....can't believe I went as far as I did. Good luck to rest of ya.

Just need a boost of about 0.06 to stay in, and my FS entry is exceeding all of my expectations! Now I'm actually hoping the scrubbers help me out tomorrow night!

That's it - the end is near... :( I am around 0.8 under what I need to get to the next round so good luck to the rest of the bunch. This has been so much fun! Hope to do this again soon.

ETA: hey Dennis! You're in Quebec! While in Charlevoix, don't miss the trail to the "Acropole" in the provincial park of the Gorges of the Malbaie River. Strenuous to climb but the view is out of this world!! Bon voyage!

Heh. We're twins! :) Well, except that I need only 0.04.

Well guy's and gal's I think I will make it through this round but unless I go out know and take a picture to enter one or the other challenges tonight it will be a no entry this week.

My Mother had surgery last Friday, that afternoon my dad had to go stay at a facility because of his meds. It appears he had a heart attack while their and has been in the hospital since yesterday. I just go home from sitting with him all afternoon and taking care of my mother.

I'm going out to get my mother something to eat in a few; taking my camera and hoping something will pop out that I can take a picture so I can enter tonight. It will be a last minute shot and don't know how it will score but as the old saying in golf, "you got to hit it hard enough to reach the hole or you have no chance". Same applies here, I have to enter something, anything, or will not have a chance.

Wish me luck!
Thanks,
Scott.

I hope you find something!

My freestudy is almost at 6 which gives me fairly good footing onto the next round. Now to come up with some creative product shots.

Edit to add: I just averaged my last 11 photos and the average was 5.979, my overall average is 5.3 something. This side challenge has pushed me to set up shots that I would normally be to lazy to do.

Looking good for the next round. My FS is in low 6 area. Just checking that "Product" challenge and the open challenges disclosed tonight will be the next challenges?
09/03/2008 12:05:27 AM · #845
Scott, I hope you found something.

As for me, my score jumped 0.13 at rollover on B&W Abstract. That's more than double the largest jump I've ever seen. So after sweating it all week, I ended up nearly 0.1 above my average!

And my FS is over 6.7, so I'll be through to next week, also. :)

Well I made it to the 6th round but didn't get an entry in time. So I'm out! Good luck to everyone that remains in the challenge.
When I hit the submit button it went to the rollover page. I missed by a few seconds. But I don't think my entry would of score > my avg.

ETA: Thanks for the tourney, my average over the 5 weeks was a 6.0988

Can't wait till the next tourney.
Scott

I'm through to week 6...barely. My FS is doing very well at 6.5 so I'll should be around to week 7. Should be a less stressful week, since I won't have to rely on the scrub!
09/03/2008 02:38:07 AM · #848
It's over. My overexposed shot is at spectacularly limboing under average by 0.5 and the rest. There's time, but . . . it's been a great tourney and thanks and cheers to all.
09/03/2008 04:02:15 AM · #849
I was at 5.6534 last time I looked last night, so the scrubbers really did their job! I ended up with 5.7736, and a slide into week 6. I doubt I'll be relying on the scrubber this week though. It seems there were quite a few of us barely making it this week. :)
09/03/2008 03:55:18 PM · #850
Well, that's me out but had fun whilst it lasted and am currently sitting on 2 mid 6's this week lol.

Please take a moment to check the Week 5 Results below just to make sure I didn't mess up!

Dennis, on your return I'll ping you the spreadsheet to make things easier for you ;)
