Been messing around with some limes while tossing down a couple cold ones.
I know a lot of DPC'ers have some great fruit shots. Lets see em!

I really like that choose not to use a straight black background, makes the colors interesting. Well done.

We have this border in our kitchen (along with black appliances with maple cabinets):

My wife has a bunch of "decorations" in the kitchen, but no photography, especially none of mine. I thought it would be fun to try and come up with something that fit with the border that my wife might actually hang up. While cleaning out a relative's garage, I found this old wooden pear box and thought "this might make a cool prop", so I took it home. I bought some pears and grapes and took these pictures (intended to 5x7's) and want to mount them in one of those triptych frames in a vertical orientation, something like this:

What do you think? This is my first attempt at photographing fruit, so any ideas on lighting, composition, what you would have done differently, are appreciated...

I like the triptych idea! Very nice for your first attempt. But since you asked, here are some ideas I came up with.
There is a product you can buy to clean the grapes that would eliminate that white coloration from the grapes. It's called FIT Fruit and Vegetable Wash. I think if you could clean that up they would look better. Maybe find some leaves that match those in your border and place them with the grapes.
I also think you could find a better angle on the box of pears. An angle more from above might look good. You seem to have some dark shadows under the pears that are sitting outside the box and changing the angle might eliminate what you can see of those shadows. Shadows are good, but these are a little too dark IMO.
I like how the frames get more full as you go from top to bottom picture. Gives the trip a weighted feeling,,,I like that. I also like how the grapes in the top pic are more red and the ones in the bottom are more purple.

I have been playing around trying to get nice white backgrounds. Here is one attempt with an apple.

Something is off in the scale with the grapes almost in macro and the pears in a longshot with prop.

I think if you want a macro component, try one of a pear and some dark grapes on top, a pear with green grapes on the bottom, and the center a long shot with the box, pears and grape bunches (and leaves if you can get any). I think that would give a better balance.
