This has probably been THE single best side challenge I've done so far. Not only did it bring me my very first ribbon and new PB :D but I am humbled that I've made it so far. This is a really talented bunch and it made me realize, as I saw some of my favorite photographers leave, that you can't always take that perfect picture. Even the best bomb out sometimes and I had just assumed it was only happening to me. So, yes... humbling truly is the fitted word here.

But, reality hit soon thereafter. My B&W entry is hovering around 4.9. he-he maybe the gods of photography just want to make sure I don't get a big head because of my ribbon... OK guys! I got it! Now can my entry move above my average again so I can still play???

And thank you Dennis for putting this excellent tourney together!

Terrific company, I'd say. Sorry to see you all go (except that I'm sort of trying to win, but hey...). It's in the nature of the beast/challenge that any of those scores would have seen me through. OK, maybe not Judi's, but it nearly would.

The Abstract B&W challenge is crazy. I'll get five or six votes ranging from 7-10 then followed up with about four votes that range from 2-4. I guess my entry is the type that they love it or hate it. At least it's above my tourney average [for now]. Crossing fingers it stays above.

I will be out for sure after this round, I'm sitting almost a full point below my average and no amount of praying to the vote scrubber gods are going to help me now.

I thought I was excused nail-biting on this one, but I'm still dropping consistently - from 5.9 after 11 votes to 5.1 after 70-something (4.9 needed)

Moi? I've spent the last day and a half crawling up from 5.1 to 5.45 and just for a moment I thought there was a faint chance of staying in this. That was until without the number of votes changing a whopping 7 (yes seven) was wiped from my score and brought me down 0.056.

Honestly didn't think this needed validation and almost didn't submit it. Not one of my best shots and think the pp'ing is letting me down :(

Ooh, just had a thought, Dennis has asked me to grab the average scores tomorrow (will do it Sunday at 22:00 GMT) for next weeks survivors. Then I had a thought, both the Overexposed and FS voting starts on Monday - has everybody nominated? and, if you enter both the FS and Overexposed and have not nominated one what will happen?

Very good of you to take over the reins.

As I see it, although it's complicated to describe, the 'system' of who's entered with what pretty much sorts itself out.

There's a difference between paying and unpaying members (and it's more than the blue shirt), as the blue-shirted ones have the option of entering member challenges and, in the case of this coming week, monthly 'best of' challenges.

The default, then, is that everyone has their entry in the first challenge of the week for which they are eligible riding in the Above Average Tourney.

Those who wish their entry in a challenge other than the default to be the one that counts for the week must say so.

As I understand it that means they have to announce it in this thread.

Dinnae fash yersel': if someone says - oops, I thought I had told you etc etc, then just take it in good faith and make the necessary adjustments.

The voting for overexposed and dolls & puppets starts Tuesday midnight, or Wednesday at sparrow fart for the likes of you and me.

ETA - sorry, silly me. It's the FS and Double-Take that both start voting on Monday EST, so you're right, there's a wee problem. I have a nasty feeling you may need to PM all the blue shirts in the twenty remaining competitors.

Alternatively the message can be given here:

Those of you who are entering both the Free Study for August and the Double-Take member challenge must declare which of them you're betting on.
