...and put me to shame.
One question though.

Is an image abstract because it is a close up or is it just a close up?
I m still unsure as to the definition of an abstract image but the majority of them look great anyway.

(Except mine -> 4.2 so far and only one comment).

From work I have seen prior to this challenge and my interpretation of it (each to their own though obviously) I think of abstract as being something not immediately recogonisable (a close up, an unusual angle, artistically blurred etc), also form and texture can be presented as abstract. If you look at some of the old masters paintings you can often still distinguish the subject but it's not the normal / usual interpretation of it.

Personally I think it is a very loose subject and open to so much interpretation that it's a bit of a nightmare challenge really.

EDIT: Grammar and spelling

If you can tell what the subject matter is, it is not an abstract, IMO.

Alright!

Yet another thread arguing what abstract is... when DPCers have nothing but an abstract understanding of the term. :)

abstract to me is just that any take on anything in any form and if abstract is not recognizable then most of us failed the challenge

Not a prob. I can give abstract votes on an abstract challenge. I may need to buy a new keyboard. The used one I bought from Slippy has a sticking "1" key. Hope nobody notices.

When I went through the entries to vote and comment on them, I couldn't find any abstracts at first. It took a little while to find one, then a few more, here and there. To my delight, I also found images that didn't obviously fit any familiar confines of the genre, but extended it - or so I felt, after considering them more carefully.
