Ah. :)
Speaking for myself, I've got folders-full of IR shots from the last few months that I haven't had time to process, and I intend to use this Side Challenge as an excuse to dig through them. I want to try some more shots during the month too, but not all my posts will be of images taken in September.
I don't have any problem with people using older IR shots to post here - dig them out, do something new with them and post away! |
I think in a challenge like this one that this is a good idea. It is a little specialist and most people do not shoot it every day (I have a converted P&S camera so it is easy to carry around all the time even with my Nikon D80 in normal color). This will allow us to share and see a lot of different things and get new ideas as well as seeing more of what is possible with infrared. It is a format which encourages experimentation which is one thing which attracts me. I constantly change what I like to do as far as processing. Right now, I am more into shoting in black and white IR.
As for portraits (which I hope we will see more of too), from what I have been reading, the IR basically "sees" below the firat couple of layers of skin. This can give it a more glowing appearance. It can also reveal things like veins too though. Eyes look more bloodshot for the same reason- you see the blood vessels in the whites of the eyes and the pupils look darker and deeper.

Cool, thanks for those links! The last one was really helpful, even tho it is a Canon based list. I wasn't aware that some lenses wouldn't be suitable and as it turns out the one I've been using isn't. I was really confused on what I was doing wrong and how to avoid the slight color differences in the center of my IR shots. Looks like I need to hurry and get a stepdown ring. |

Wow, thanks for that! So apparently the only lenses I have that are recommended for IR are my lensbaby and my macro, hah! I wonder if my husband will go for that as an excuse to go shopping... ;) |

you could always shoot pinhole too... but I fully support your quest for more lenses. :)

Well considering the only lens I want right now is the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D ED. I don't think he'll go for my excuse but I will definitely make him aware of your support ;) |

Thanks for this tutorial link. It helps me to see the pictures AND the instructions at the same time. Too bad my camera just gives me an all red photo after i take a pic lol. I guess I'll have to do a tutorial for the oly. (After I figure out what I am doing lol)

Has anyone else used this formula/workflow?
