Yeah, I hate to be pessimistic, but my scores have been spiraling down for a while this year. You, OTOH, usually nail what the voters want. I've learned lots here, been inspired often, but the game isn't as fun anymore.

Don't lose heart, Judi. It's just the shockwave effect from the total awesomeness of my entry. It's melting part of your score away, just as a nuclear blast would melt anything nearby.

Well, how is it even possible for me to score higher than Judy, and in a horse challenge. Is there a group out there that thinks 1 is for the best shots and 10 for the worst?

I'm doing much better than my average (yay!), but still not on my front page -

I had a riding lesson on Sat and thought I could take some photos while I was already hot and sweaty and in need of a shower, so I took my camera. But forgot to bring any memory cards - ARRRGGHH! So I had to head out on Sunday, get all nasty again, and got bit all over (and NOT by horses). Tried to edit on my laptop - and couldn't tell what kind of colors/contrast I was getting. At one point my entry looked a bit like one of those badly colored old postcards! Had about 4 choices that alternately looked better than my entry, but then found something I didn't like (like the grass that I couldn't get to look natural).

But at the same time, shots I took the last time I remembered to bring my camera to the barn have prompted the barn owner to ask me to hang some samples in the tack room w/ info on my rates and how to contact me.

ok...I'm confused by the whole voting thing here!!!!

I get scored low in the Mathematics challenge because my math image was "too obvious" as being related to math....

Now I get scored low again because my entry in the horse challenge DNMC? WTH!!! It is VERY plain to see it is all horse related! In more ways than one...actually easy to see at least 3 ways this meets the challenge.

I give up trying to please others with my photos...from now on it will be all about my perception and what I like!

What she said. Very true. You will drive yourself NUTS if you aim to shoot only to please the DPC crowd. Shoot what you like, let the dice roll, and if you happen to enter pictures that please you AND the DPC crowd, you will do well. Be true to yourself!

plus its physically impossible to make everyone happy on here, so no matter what, you fail. if you take pictures for yourself, you always win:)

I will join you ladies but I have just renewed my subscription because of the Free Study Marathon, only to get a 4.7 for my entry in July a near personal worst .... Mine is an average pic and it is getting an average score so I am not too worried. I have hardly been participating anymore because it just isnt the fun it used to be when we had so many entries we had to introduce the two open challenges! I finished in the top 30 odd in the FS Marathon last year, this year I am sitting at 100 odd!!!! Sigh!!! Courage ladies, maybe the muse will return and inspire us all to shoot DPC acceptable images again and also please ourselves.
