Thanks for the information!

Another question, do we have two versions of 580EX II? I was looking at the different stores about the prices and noticed that there is big difference in the price between CircuitCity and BestBuy. CC is selling one for $479.xx and BB is $529.xx. when I called BB to do price match and they said CC is carrying different version of 580EX II then what they have and they didn't consider the price match.

I just bought another version II at B&H for $420.00

There is a USA version and a grey market version. But the price isnt near what they are selling them for.

Typical nonsense from a big box salesman.... There is a 580EX and a 580EX II. Canon stuff can be bought with US warranty or "gray" market with an international warr.

NO there is only one version of the 580EX II. If you buy local such as BB, CC, and places like that you are going to see a markup of about $100 USD. Purchase my two 580EX II and ST-E2 Transmitter from B&H cheaper than I could purchase just the 2 580EX II local. I would recommend B&H. I have purchased all of my equipment from them and they are great before, during, and after the sale. I have not had a single problem with them. Avg standard shipping from B&H arrives 3 to 5 days, at least in my case.

Ask them why is it that both CC and BB has the same demo for the Canon 580EX II flash on their website. They both are the same product.

there's a US version that has markings on it in feet as well as meters, and a slightly cheaper international version that has meters only.

If I had it to do all over again, I would never have bought the 580ex.
For the same amount of money can buy you two flash guns with light stands, umbrellas, and wireless slave triggers. Check out the strobist blog ( //strobist.blogspot.com/ ).

Thanks Guys!

Does BH had price of about $329 sometime in 2007 and if so then the price of this flash went up or what?

Thats was a version I likely, and also Canon had a price change going almost across the board recently.

There was an instant rebate (if I'm not mistaken) from Canon on the 580EX II back in 2007.

This morning I order it from CALUMET, they shipped it and it is schedule to be delivered on 29th. I applied LIVE.com 17.5% cashback discount after that price would be $346.49+11 s/h = $357.00. At the same time I do see that cashback amount of $73.xx was added to my hotmail account. I think it is pretty good deal, right?
