Hey All,

Despite many people not liking them, I need to put a good artistic style border on a photo anyone have a good link or tip or something for creating or downloading a good artistic border??

Thanks All,

I guess that depends on what you mean by "Artistic".
And any tips would depend on what software you are using. I know how to make a nice matte and frame like border pretty easily in PSe.

See if this is the kind of border you are looking for:

Nice example there, I feel, of how a border can enhance a photo :)

Great photo regardless, but even better with the border, especially as I am a fan of simple borders.

Interestingly I'd have also done a thin line on the inside of the border, but looking at it the way you have done it it is definately better the way you did it.

I can do simple borders like that one. I talking about more intricate borders, I'm looking for something old fashioned looking, but can't finding something that works.

I would just like to know how you get the outer border to actually look like a frame instead of just a flat line around the photo.

Ok, assuming you know how to do a simple border using multiple layers, just use a layer style on that outer border layer, usually inner ridge, but there are a few that work well. That's in PSe.

I realized maybe it would be easier for you to help if I posted the image I'm workin on!

Here it is -

It's titled Paradox

I want something with an old fashioned feel to it. I dunno, hopefully someone can help!!
Any comments on the shot is welcome too!

If it was my image, I'd consider a modest white border (without any additional lines or adornments) or anything reminiscent of something that came out of a 1940s box camera.
