A friend just got a D80 and says she didn't get any processing software with the camera.
I got lucky and got CS2 early on.
Suggestions?
She's Jeanette: here she is.....(I've got her convincecd that she NEEDS DPC!!!)
"A 60-day trial came with the camera - Nikon Capture NX2. Has anyone out there used that in comparison with PhotoShop? Does it compare? Would it be worth getting PhotoShop even though I just got the camera and I'm only learning the basics now?
Thanks for your help!"

A beginner would save money and do well to just buy Photoshop elements. 85% of the functionality, for about 20% of the cost.
And the next item on my list would be Lightroom, as she starts to shoot more and more RAW.

NX2 is a great raw converter but it is not PS by any stretch. Shoe probably doesn't need NX2 but I use both in my work-flow. If she is only going to get one I say Photoshop.

I'm forwarding this thread to her (She just left after passing along the advice from Neil)
it's going to be easy to get her hooked into DPC.....she's already a photography junkie after a week with her D80.....heh, heh.....
