Hi,

Im wondering whats best for the amateur photographer at home.
Would a light tent or actual studio lights be better?
Also can you get small studio lights that would do for my office at home and playing around with macro photography?
Thanks.

small speed lights like these from strobist.com are a great place to start.

I personally went out and bought 2 Alien Bee 800s and a soft box and the rest, spent about 800 total and have a great set up for the next 10 years. My only issue is its a lot to set up and take down at home. I prefer speed lights then or 1 AB800 and a reflector.

It all depends on what you plan to do and how much you have to spend.

Hope this helps!
