I suspect, however, that I may have some bragging rights for the steadiest and perhaps largest drop in average of all contestants to make it this far. I started with 5.7357 the first week, then 5.7329 for an average to beat the second week, and now a 5.7311 to beat this week. My average at this moment is now 5.7299 and falling by the hour. Surely that's something worth recognizing? :-)

Now at 5.7295. Let's see how low it can go!

And the final tally - now 5.7292. Woody was rather ill-fated, and Mathematics apparently REALLY sucks. An interesting couple of weeks, to be sure! Best of luck to the remaining competitors - I'll be watching this thread to see how everyone does!

Looks like I made it to round 4. But I'm worried about this one. Keeping fingers crossed.

Ouch. Well, I can't even find a horse, so at least the two open options are something I could, possibly, come up with an idea to shoot.

Maybe my math score, now only 0.2 over my average, will fall further and relieve me of the pressure.

And Deb, what can I say? I'm touched you tried my glasses. :)

Man down!

My last minute "Purple" entry is getting what it deserves... unfortunately, it is well below my average. I moved into my first house on Saturday, and really didn't have as much time to execute this shot as I would have liked.

Thanks again Dennis for organizing all this.

Good luck to everyone who gets through to the 5th round.

I started to climb up a wee bit and currently I am just 0.1 below my average... Hmmmmmm Am I THAT lucky?

Not doing nearly as well as I had thought I would in purple, but I'm still above my average. There are lots of great entries in the Purple challenge. I was impressed.

Plenty of entries in the doors challenge, most of them better than mine... Neverthless I'm a full 2 tenths over average after fourty votes, so I'm hanging in...

Well it is a Dara Torres - missed it by 0.0257! Mayhap I should have went with my Ducktor Who entry.

No worries though. I had a good run. Dennis thank you for all your work in getting this together.

And Good Luck to those that Advanced! I'll be watching this thread and rooting for the survivors to continue to do Better Than Their Averages.

Sounds like it was a fun shoot!!

Um, well, hmmm, looking at that statement in a different way it gives quite a different impression then what really happened.

*embarassed* The glass tabletop broke because of heat from the lights. Good thing was no one was hurt considering that this was not tempered glass.

after the first 40 or so votes its not looking good for me to make it to the next round .... we shall see what the rest of the week brings ... I didn't like my entry last night, and it's apparent the voters don't either!!

27 Survivors Into Week 4!

ace flyman, andrewt, bassbone, beckydi, Bogi, bspurgeon, Caroline69, DarkRider, EBJones, Ecce Signum, eva2k0, Eyesup, freakin_hilarious, jeger, Judi, levyj413, liberty, LouisaSalazar, magenmarie, MAK, pamelasue, Quigley, raish, SDW, socalsteve, tfarrell23, Trumpeteer4, XMountaineer

Good work everyone! A special shout out to Trumpeteer4, beckydi, Ecce Signum and MAK for joining jeger and Dark Rider in beating their averages by more than a point this week. (Well, MAK was actually *only* 0.9929 above his average, but who̢۪s counting?).

OP and Score Sheet updated. Good luck in Week 4 everyone. Hope you are all using new math to boost your scores on all those purple doors.

Congratulations on the huge achievement of staying over an average like yours for any time at all :-)

My purple entry is getting clobbered. Naturally I expected it to be far above my 5.6x average. It will make for an interesting week.

You have 27 Survivors but listing 28. Must be an error, just bring it to your attention.

Thanks .... right you are. That was a pretty good week, just 7 people didn't make it through.

Everyone who started with an average over 6 has now been knocked out, and been replaced by Bogi who started at 5.97 and has now climbed up to 6. Judi is also slowly getting closer to the magic number (5.9899 and counting, but tough to move when you've got 365 challenges under your belt!), with bassbone not far behind at 5.9525.

Meanwhile, raish and Eyesup are the only ones left from the sub-5 starting group ... Good luck in continuing to represent that group (and sorry to see you go whiterook!)

I need a whole lot of love from the 'yes, it has a door in the shot' crowd. My "Doors" score is hovering around 5.75 after 64 votes (and yes my shot is very solid and has a door as a significant component of the shot), so I will need a big boost the rest of the week to get me through...

Come on folks...Show the love!

Looks like this will be my closest week, currently 74 votes and 6.0946 +0.2885, on my average to beat.
08/20/2008 08:53:19 PM · #748
Kind of early with 76 votes. Well over my average. Got to start looking for a shot for next round.

I wasn't sure about my Purple score, but it's risen to a place where I think I can safely say I'm secure for this week. Until horses. lol.
08/20/2008 09:38:05 PM · #750
Not much voting on math so far - only 95 votes - but still nearly 0.3 above my average.

But the trend is looking bad - each week I've been lower and I'm fresh out of ideas for next week.
