Here's a couple shots from my trip to Alaska. I was in the Anchorage camera shop on Saturday looking at the Canon 10-22, but decided not to buy it. Two days later I was hiking on a glacier and kicking myself for not having the ultra-wide. =/
But I did do some panoramic shots, and Photoshop did a pretty darn good job of stitching them together (File -> Automate -> Photomerge).
I still wish I had picked up the ultra-wide, though. =P
Here are some other shots I loved from the trip:

Wow Jeff! Some amazing shots! The pans look great. Not to rub salt, but you could've rented a 10-22. :) Looks like an awesome trip though, thanks for posting the pics. |

Art: Renting!? Blast!! ... =D
Ter: It was awesome. You can walk on it and go exploring. The glacier/lake pictures are in a few hundred meters.
Cuttooth: We did the same thing - train to Seward and a boat/wildlife/glacier tour. Looks like it was pretty cloudy for you, too! =)
The fishing was out of Homer - that's the dock with the rainbow. Our captain (Captain Rob with Big Bear Halibut Charters) was excellent. We went on a combo trip, so we caught our limit of black bass, ling cod, yellow-eyed rockfish, and of course, halibut.
This is a super-tasty halibut recipe, for those interested:
Spicy Pecan Encrusted Halibut
Lay 1 inch thick halibut fillets in a baking dish.
Melt and Mix:
3 T butter
3 T olive oil
3 T honey
Add to the butter mixture:
1 T fresh garlic, chopped
1 t black pepper
1 t cayenne pepper
1 T Old Bay
1 t chili powder
1 T paprika
3/4 cup chopped pecans
Stir well.
Spread butter, spice, nut mixture over halibut fillets.
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
(Halibut is finished when it flakes easily with a fork.) |

that recipe looks great...unfortunately no fresh halibut here in hawaii but a substitute should work out fine. i'm envious of the fishing you did, sadly i didnt have time for that but it was really cool watching the fishing boats come in and seeing them filet all the fish right there on the dock. eating the halibut fresh was amazing too.
alaska has such an incredible energy, one of my favorite trips for sure |
