I have my old Canon EOS Rebel 300D and have a hard time selling it because I keep it in case I am shooting in a location / situation where I it might get broke or stolen or something - just a backup body really. Well I recently came into posession of an older (circa 2002) Canon D60 dslr in mint condition. It feels much better (heftier) than the 300D but it is worth even less in resale value, so here is my question to those familiar with the older dslrs like the D60 - would I be better off keeping the D60 and selling the 300D or vice versa?

Keep em both. You never know what might happen. Seriously. You would not believe the luck I had one day... all I have to say is, it's a good thing I held on to that Kodak :)

and Might I add, nice find! Beautiful cam :) A new D60 is actually about $700 sooooooooo.... dunno, go figure :)

Anyway, if you are hell bent, sell the 300D. Even from 2002, the D60 is going to be a higher grade camera. :)

Best of luck! Muah!

The controls on the D60 are similar layout to the 30D you have now and it has a similar feel.
The 300D is very plastic feel camera and I would have no hesitation in selling the 300D first.
Just my opinion mate. the image quality will be the same.

I'd just like to point out that you very narrowly avoided the good ol' Canon vs Nikon argument ;)

That being said, I'd always take a sturdier body over a newer one. Ergonomics are a trait very important to me, and I hate the plasticy feel of the 300D.

The D60 was an amazing Camera in its time. And still can produce amazing files. Keep the ISO down on it and remember larger prints can be done from these files. I have many large prints from my old 4MP 1DMKI camera out with customers. I'd take the D60 over the 300D anyday.
