It's good to hear that! But I have a question for you then...
would an artistic and very well done photograph of two girls practicing bondage offend you? I mean, if the challenge topic was say... "Chains" and the entry photograph in questions was two girls, nude, chaining each other up. Would you be able to look past the fact that the women weren't portrayed in the most flattering situation?
Don't take this as me picking you out, and you don't have to answer if you don't want. I'm genuinely curious about how far religion plays. |

RE: //www.dpcNoConservatives.com
*sigh* Antoher example of "open-minded", "tolerant" liberals unwilling to even listen to opposing points of view. In fact, shutting themselves in their hypothetical world of non-reality and denying that opposing viewpoints even exist. Because obviously, if they don't hear them, they effectively don't exist. Lovely.
Sorry for raining on the parade, but I am really sick of posts like this that are inherently designed to polarize people and to demonize a large section (or even a small section) of the membership here. I realize I can ignore the thread, so that's what I'll do. Enjoy the little party. |

The US didn't invade Iraq, we liberated it. If you feel you own the world you don't invade anything. ;-) |

I think people need to try to smile more and worry less. Everyone is worried about everyone else, what they are doing, what they are thinking, what they are looking at. When they should just be concerned with trying to be happy and enjoy life.

Ok....so if I didn't believe that opposing viewpoints existed...then I wouldn't have a reason to make this thread, so clearly I know opposing viewpoints exist.
This post was designed to show that there is a group of people on DPC who are tired of having their work and effort tattered and torn because of another groups inability to come out of their safe little world.

Funny you should say that since I imagine you may be one of the people that sees a penis or vagina and runs for the hills.
Ahh!!! The penis monster is coming for me!

As soon as I find the models to take it :-p
I'll make sure to post a "vagina monsters inside" label on it so I don't accidentally offend anybody :) :)

*deep sigh of relief*
I am so glad my path through life has left me a liberal able to enjoy so many things that others cower, cringe, or cry about. I would hate to be scared of photos, it must be a horrible existence but thankfully I can only imagine it.
Oh, and kudos to Sam for having the guts to ask what I could not, lol...

Nope it wouldn't offend me. If that is something that someone likes shooting who am I to tell them no? I wont be searching the web for bondage shots anytime soon though. of course I don't search for landscapes either... just not my cup of tea

Yes I look past subject matter and judge the photo on the same scale I always do i.e. (quality, originality ect..) I just will probably never desire to revist the image for enjoyment as I do other photo's
In fact the only reason bondage bothers me at all is when it honestly looks like the girl is pleading for help or in pain. I don't like seeing people utterly helpless like that. I feel like running into the room and cutting them free (cue theatrical hereo music)
As far as how far religion goes into it.... I try to keep an open mind about stuff For example kiwiness' photoshoot image was astounding in my opinion. Let's see it has nudity and to some people implied homosexuality. However I felt Gary was very respectful of the female form and might I add really creative with his shot.
I gave it a 10

People get the yearly budget deficits confused with the total National Debt all the time. The surpluses Bubba had during his administration were mostly due to new accounting rules. We were allowed to count the cash stuffed into our mattresses and watch pockets. W truly screwed the pooch though, he had record deficits even with the new accounting practices. He's gonna be remembered as the worst US President, EVAR!
Oh, the 6 trillion figure is a bit out of date!

Ok, Patrick is on board, too. This is going to be epic.
Sorry I can't help with the choice of location (it's a bit far from where I currently am and Google Maps only provides limited information...).
Let me know when you get to the props. I'll be checking out some hardware stores now... ;-) |

I don't know, the last time a group of states executed their legitimate right to secede, Lincoln invaded, conquered, and took them back against the law and their will. |

They have the right as established by our Founding Fathers. |

I was just sick of creating a photograph that might have some element of suggestive content, and having it get thrashed because Jesus frowns upon naked human bodies. I have nothing against religion or conservatives, but I do think if your going to be judging art, you need to be able to separate your personal beliefs sometimes, and understand what the artist was trying to do.
...and yes, I know art is subjective...but at least the technicals of art are somewhat objective...and you can take a non-biased approach to how a photograph was executed..maybe that would help a bit. |
Where is your Bible reference that Jesus frowns upon naked bodies? I don't think it's in there. But God does frown up sin and lust is of course sin. And causing someone to sin is sin. So common sense should prevail.
That answers your faulty theological statement.
As for content, everyone has one vote and one vote won't boost or derail an image. |

Overall, history, instead of the media, will remember Bush rightly as one of the greatest US presidents (Reagan and Washington were tops). He authorized too much spending (Only Congress can actually spend), but all politicians suffer from that sickness.
Bush's biggest failure was his (and McCain's) amnesty attempt which fortunately conservatives managed to block. That was a close one. |
