My subscription is about up... and rather than wait to see my current entry continue to plummet, I am about to request cancellation of my account here. Otherwise the temptation would be too great to post occasionally and this all takes up a lot of my time. If I have my account killed completely, then I know I won't come back because I'd have to start over completely.

It's been fun and frustrating all at the same time.

Best to all and hope you all continue to grow in your craft. There is a lot of talent and a lot more potential here.

Take care!!!

And you can always find me over at //photographyvoice.com!

Oh no! You're one of the few people here with a GX10! But good luck to you.

Gotta admit I know how you feel, but I like the portfolio space and lots of the folks here. Now if I could just quit entering challenges....

Think about it - the side challenges are nice, the feedback when you ask for it is nice. I really liked your shot for "Fallen". But I do know how you feel. You could always try just one more year.... :-)

:( I'm sorry you are leaving too, Kevin, but I know how you feel too.

I'm with Deb tho. There is a cameraderie on this site that you don't easily find in other places. And the side challenges are so much more affirming and fun to make and grow friendships. It also is great to make you feel totally free to experiment and develop your photography without worrying about silly editing rules, or clueless voters who vote down a photo for reasons not related to whether or not the photograph is awesome.

Good luck! I hope you change your mind.

Perhaps you meant we could find you here. You inadvertently placed an exclamation mark after .com in your URL. Good luck. Don't know how we'll maintain a good religious rant without you.

Good points... Forgot about the side stuff... Just was worried about having to press UPDATE more and more every two seconds for the rest of my life. :)

Wait a minute...

Guys are swimming
Guys are sailing
Playing baseball
Gee that's bettah!
Muttah, Fattah, kindly disregard this lettah.

Glad to hear you are considering staying...

I have been frustrated many a time here. But, I tell myself that this will make me a better photographer. If i can stretch an do what others like, it does not diminish what I truely like, it just means that I have acquired the skills to please them also.

I do not envision ever becoming a pro. I'm too old, and too lazy for that. But I would like to produce pictures that please others, as well as please myself.

Some of the challenges are really hard to get revved up for. But perhaps that is the point. If I can learn to shoot good images for challenges that do not inspire me, then I will have grown beyond where I am.

I think the hardest part of becoming a true photographer as opposed to just a hack with a camera is discovering that place where the things you enjoy begin to jive with things other people enjoy. When you have learned enough to produce images pleasing to your eye that also bring a similar feel to others, that is when you are a true photographer at least in my eyes. Up until then you are simply learning the craft. I suspect also that it has little to do with the subject matter or style that you enjoy, but rather with the WAY in which you execute and present the images. One thing that always strikes me about photographers in say National Geographic is that whatever they are shooting, the images are compelling and interesting and capture many unique details.

You have some pretty good shots in the arena. You sure you want to leave?
