I can not see how I submitted 896 photos to this fotolia, and every single one was denied on technical or over abundance...but I saw everyday the last 6 days photos almost identical getting through? What is the deal? I just don't see how I didn't get a single approval out of that many photos. If I'm that bad...maybe I should sell my camera equip. and take up checkers or something!

WOW. I was slightly miffed when only 1 of my 5 test shots were accepted, and I haven't submitted any more to them yet. This definitely gives me pause before I spend any more time submitting anything to that site.
I mean, just WOW.
How long did it take for them to process all of your images?
Have you submitted these to other microstocks, or was this a first pass for all of them?
ETA - this should probably move to the stock forum. ;)

Maybe they only looked at a few samples and they were not of high enough quality so your entire batch was rejected. |

I submitted 896 photos, then went back and keyworded each one, pick catagories, etc.... Submitted last week, all were rejected...I went and looked a few minutes ago and there are 27 or so still waiting for review...so not all hope is lost, but might as well be. I also submitted the same photos to shutterstock, but they have not been checked there yet...still waiting. If I have the same luck there....I don't think I'll bother with any other sites. I spent over 3 days keywording, and took over 25 hours to upload everything to the 2 sites. Just really upsetting when I put all that work into it, and nothing made it.

You think you can give us a few examples for us to view and maybe help you and others learn? :)

It's hard to see if the focus is good or not with these low res versions. What file format are you using?
They look ok but i'm sure some must lose their sharpness at full res. Any way we can see a full res one?

okay so when you send all these photos to this site your talking about what do you get out of it? I'm not following why you sent over 800 photo's to this.. yea i know I'm clueless but so is soomeone else reading this and see now I have asked the question so they don't have to look stupid.. lol |

Fotolia is a stock photography site -- if one of their customers downloads your photo then you get a (small, in this case) royalty payment. Most stock sites already have several hundred thousand photos in their catalog, so it can be hard to break in with something fresh and original. |

I'd say you're a good photographer and they liked what you had.

Well those are all nice snapshots but many of them have weird angles or are poorly lit(like the fish) I mean if you sent in 800 shots like those, I would have to think they vetted something like 8000 shots that were about the same thing. Nothing there really pops to me they all just look like average good but nothing special pictures.
Sorry but that's my thinking.

I go to photoshelter exclusively and have an %80+ acceptance rating, though they may not as picky.
Istock accepted most before I pulled them, Alamy accepted a smaller percentage. Once I found one place to upload to it was much less stress. My advice is to find a nook and stick with them.
oh, and don't send 800 pics. Pick the 8 best of your liking... see what they like... then go from there. |

Smaller batches of submission are *definitely* a good idea. Not only will you really be inclined to send your very very best, but you won't have to spend so much time keywording and uploading!!
I do a bit of stock stuff too and have gotten frustrating rejections as well. Best I can say is really take a critical eye to all photos you consider submitting and to get back on the horse! Also, I finally invested in the full version of NeatImage, which has helped a lot. |
