I just got this idea for a game and think it could be really fun. Lets hope other people feel the same way. :p
Here is how it will work:
I will start by posting a photo and listing its latitude and longitude coordinates.
The next poster will then post one of their photos that is within 10° longitude or latitude. (You can use This Site to locate coordinates easily. Google Earth is also great and more accurate if you have it installed on your computer. Google Maps is also neat to link to in your post.)
This process then repeats.
1st Photo:
52.18 lat, 0.09 long

I suggest making it within 10" of either latitude or longitude. If it has to be within 10" for both, we can't jump oceans.

I don't want to make too hard for people to find an image they can post. 10° in any direction may be too large of an area however, so I will change that to 10° total, therefore 5° in any direction. |

Not to be too blunt, but did you understand what I said? If you go that small, you won't be able to jump across oceans. No pictures from North or South America will be within 5 degrees of anything in Europe or Asia.
Whereas if you let people slide any amount along lines of latitude or longitude, as long as they stay within 10 degrees of the other one, you'd have better luck.
For example, I probably have an image that's within 10 degrees of the latitude of yours, but it's many more than 10 degrees of longitude away.

Oh, hahah...yeah that makes more sense! That's a very good idea. The way I had thought of overcoming that problem was for each poster to post 2 pictures but I like you suggestion more. One moment while I edit the original post. |

Sorry...I like UTM coordinates. :)
If you post your stat like this
EDIT:-->Lat 52.18 Long 0.09 Leave off the Lat and long and it works. IE: 52.18, 0.09 (and I can select and right click for it to work here-Safari)
then you can just copy and paste into Google Maps--wouldn't have to do this with select and right click to Search in Google

Been looking at this. You will never be able to cross the oceans.
You could almost get to Iceland from where you are, then almost Greenland (then trek across with a few shots), then you would be stuck in the middle of the ocean, more than 20 degrees from Labrador/Newfoundland, Canada.
There is a (-)60 degree separation between you and North America.
Unless it can continue to make its way across Europe through Russia to Magadan, Russia...and they drive/boat/swim/dogsled up to the Bering Straight for a shot to work it into North and South America. That's if you want to include them. :)

That's why he changed it to within 10 degrees of lat. OR long.
For example, here's my shot from 44.272661 lat., -72.269955 long:

Not how I understood it. IE: OP lat 52.18 could be between 62.18 or 42.18 and the long could be between -10.09 or 10.09.
Not 52.18 to 62.18 and then whatever or vice versa.
Oh well have fun.
