i heard a lot of good things about this lens before I get it.
But I feel disapointed in some ways... For example it has a lot more cromatic aberration than I would thought. And it is far less sharp than I readed (at least my copy).
I want to give it a try on landscapes for some nice wide angle perspectives.
So any one have discovered it's sweet spot? Any advices?

Mine was very sharp all the way from f/4 on down. If yours is really that soft, it could be that you just got a bad copy. Perhaps posting some example photos will help.

I agree - mine is slightly soft at f4 at 100% crops, but still very useable. I use mine handheld at 4.0 for interior shots and it works wonderfully. Anything from 5.0 on up is tack sharp. Might be a bad copy...

I've sold mine--in part to finance additional purchases but I was very satisified with its performance. Very satisfied with its sharpness at f4(which I used often) and a slight increase in sharpness when stopping it down.
As to the CA, it was pointed out to me once by another owner but I didn't feel it was a major issue. I'd like to see a few fullsize crops if you have 'em. |

| To be honest, I rarely shot it at anything OTHER than f/4, and I loved my results. But when it gets down to it, mine was very very sharp at f/8-f/11. I also noticed that I only got CA in very contrasty areas, and ONLY at f/4. Even by f/5.6, a good 90% of any CA was gone and what may have been left was very unnoticeable. |
