I have the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro for Canon and I find it to be a good value for the money. Yes, I know it's not the best lens in the world, but you can't really compare a $1700 lens (Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS) to a $250 lens. The extra reach is nice and you can get some good shots out of the macro. And besides I haven't seen too many T-ball games held at night so you can get away with a slower lens.

thanks foolish, you actually read what I wrote and thats the kind of help I was aiming for which is what most people on here did give.

you can atleast get the 70-200 f/4 for around 500 or 600 depending on whrere you go.. atleast youll have a constant f/4.. its kinda nice to have |
