If you have been following the To My Beloved Pohotography Friends thread at all, you'll know what this is about.
I am a 16 year old Girl Scout and have been searching for a new project for my Gold Award(the highest award in Girl Scouts). A possible new project is me oragnizing an auction as a fundrasier for Ray of Hope or a similar charity organtization. I of course, would have some of my photos in the auction, but there is no way i have enough sellable photos. If you might be willing to donate a photo or two, let me know via PM or on this thread.
As of now this is not final, i just need names in case this becomes reality. Thanks |

No disrespect intended here, however, of all of the ideas put forth in the thread you linked, this sounds like an easy out. Can you get 65 hours of quality time into this project? |

i chose this one(its not final though) because i thought it would benifit my community in a positive 'physical' way. giving money to an organization helping families in need sounded like a great idea to me. i am almost positive i could log 65 hours organizing and preparing for such an event. |

Good luck on earning your gold. I agree with glad2badad that a project involving more personal imput from you would be wonderful. There are so many ways you can use your photography skills to make a difference - and you don't have to be a pro, or be perfect to accomplish that difference. You had some really good suggestions on the other thread.
Being a life long Girl Scout from Brownies (they didn't have Daisys then) on up, I think the idea is to stretch yourself a little and grow as a person WHILE benefiting the community with the project. Just a thought, but in either case I hope you do well and learn alot! |

Putting a project together like this I think would take more than 65 hours. Also, I don't think you need just photos in the auction as that might limit your result since photos don't appeal to everyone. The more variety in auction items I think the better the outcome will be for the charity.
Sure, it may be much harder than soliciting people that don't have any connection to your community to donate items but it will probably be much more rewarding for you as you will come to know people in your community better.
Just my two cents. |
