I've been contacted to discuss doing headshots for an 11 year old boy, who is a busy, professional actor.
The mother has had them done in the past at a studio referred by his agent, but has not been happy with them. Her comment to me in our brief conversation was that the photos were "TOO perfect", and did not capture the real 'him'. She's seen headshots of other kids that look nothing like the kid, and she doesn't like that.
I've never done shots for actors before, and I suppose she's seen some of my portrait work which has a more candid feel to it(???), where I'm able to catch the kids looking less-posed. Maybe that's why she's coming to me(???). (My wife knows her through working for her, so she gave her the heads-up on my photo-hobby.) We've scheduled a longer phone meeting for tonight where I can find out more.
In the meantime...
Does anybody here at the DPC-Braintrust have this sort of experience? Examples?
Any web-links with examples would be cool.
Any advice or good questions to ask?
Thanks! :-)

I have headshots you can look at on my website. These were the stage-actor type headshots, done for a youth production of "A Chorus Line". They were not only used in the playbill, but in the show.
You can see the BW ones (the ones they used) and the color versions here.
It was my first time doing headshots, but I did a lot of research. I also built a book of poses from the web, so I could show the kids, though many of them were naturals!

Maybe you will get some ideas? I have no secrets...but I try to make them laugh and keep them comfortable. Seems to work ok. Feel free to ask me anything! :)
