I have to shoot a birthday party this weekend, and it's going to be more like a wedding reception. I plan to use my flash and gary fong lightsphere, but I don't know which lens would be best. I was thinking my 18-55, but if anyone wants to take a look at my lens collection and tell me if I should choose something different, that would be awesome!

I would mostly use the 50mm f/1.8 switching to the 18-55 for the times you need to go wider.

The candid shots and portraits would be much better with this lens and you'll need less flash to get the exposure if the light is low

Just my opinion of course :0)

I second that opinion.

I think you should use that 50 macro. There's something very special about that lens! ;-)

Lensbaby all the way!

Well, I'd bring it anyway, you never know when the perfect opportunity might present itself.

I'd probably start with the 50mm f1.8 and have the 18-55 on hand.

:) Yes, she does!

Thanks for all your feedback everyone.

I guess I'll go with the 50mm 1.8 :)

That was the best $70 I ever spent.
