I am considering buying this lens. Does anyone have any personal reviews on it. I have read the reviews over at Fred Miranda but would like to hear from some people here.

| or am I better to get a fixed 200mm 2.8 with a TC? Basically I want it for surfing, whales, birds etc |

| owning it for 2 month now and being quite satisfied. a tad soft at the long end, but way better than the Sigma I had before. wouldn't consider to go for the 200 mm 2.8 and TC, but if you can afford it, take the 200 / 1.8L and the 2x Extender. |
