I think this was a pretty good deal. I was looking for some larger sizes, but I don't want to go above a 4gb because I worry about losing everyting if a card goes bad or gets lost. I also was concerned about a no-name brand, even though I've seen them cheaper.
Anyway, (2) Scandisk 4GB Extreme II cards (total of 8GB) are $50 after rebate.

Looks like that's just for one card. You can get 4GB 133X Transcend or 233X Ritek cards (both good names) for about $23 each at NewEgg. 8GB versions of each are less than $38.

After rebate, it's a total of $50 for two cards. But, newegg always had good prices too. I was not familiar with those names, however. It seemed like a good deal for Scandisk. It's nice to know those other two names are considered good for future reference.

Some good advice in this thread about Sandisk rebates and how to protect yourself.

Thanks for the info. I always document all of the items I send in for a rebate. I will post again when the rebate comes in so people know how it goes. I have already printed the rebate form from the purchase site. Their form has a list of approved dealers / sites for purchase, and you have to check mark the one you are providing the receipt from.
I'm always trying to save money, but I'm buying these for a wedding I'm doing in 3 weeks, so I was hesitant to experiment with brands I didn't know, or buy used. It appears I could have saved money doing so, but I'll know for next time. For now, at least I'll be confident for the wedding.
One thing I really like about this site is the ability to share information, so I appreciate the imput! |

Dangit, you had to rub it in, too! :-) BTW, you turned me on to Transcend a couple years ago, so thanks again! |

Just an update and fyi for those wondering about rebates...
I did receive my rebate last week with no problem whatsoever. I think sometimes it's nice to know things can actually work as advertsied. |

Good thing you were not one of the people who got processed by this company. |

man you guys are paying too much
I just went to frys the other day and picked up a RiData 16GB 233X for $60ish dollars. I never have to even take it out of my camera. I love it, way safer than popping stupid cards out in the middle of a shoot and forgetting them in places..
it was cheaper when I got it in the store? on sale maybe?
this price is still pretty decent
$70 for one card
