We have one per week and one FS per month. That's 5 times in one month I have the oppurtunity to use Advanced Rules. Kind of not beaucoup, ya know. I suggest we add one more per week due, let's say, on Thursdays or some other weekday except Tuesday. Non paying members have 8 challenges that they can participate in but us paying members have less than that when it comes to member only challenges. Ok, that makes absolutely no sense.... but i'll leave it. ;\

thank you

I know I'd be down for that.

ETA: Hell, ten more challenges a week. Bring 'em on!

Non-paying members only have four challenges per month. They have to chose one or the other of the opens - can't enter both. Members can enter the members only challenge, plus the free study, plus one of the opens - that's nine a month for members.

Deb, you beat me to it!

Kind of going off topic, and I know it's been deliberated before, but I'd like to see Free Study's done weekly or at least semi-monthly. I rarely vote in challenges where I can't vote on 100% of the entries. Free studies usually have >500 entries and that's a lot! I can't help but believe that more frequent free studies will have fewer entries, encourage more voting, and, for that matter, more comments during voting.

If this were to happen I bet we get two challenges of 500 entries to vote on!
What about a second challenge option like the open challenges. So you have a choice but can only enter one.

And don't forget there is always the chance of a speed challenge +1 for members there.

hmm, I know this Melethia. I'm talking about Advanced Rules challenges here, not Basic. There are 5 advanced challenges per month and one of these is a free study.

That's what i'm talking about. Same rules as the Exclusive Challenges but for advanced rules, kind of simple really.

I agree!!!

I would like to see the same option as the open/basic challenges - two exclusive choices available for the same time period - for members/advanced editing.

I would prefer to see a Speed Challenge every week. So you can use your Advanced Editing skills BUT you have to work faster in your prep and ideas!

What are you talking about? Members can enter 9 challenges per month; 4 member challenges, 4 open challenges, and 1 free study. Non-members can only enter 4 opens per month.

I'd say the balance is pretty good currently, especially if you're a member vs registered user.

Ok - How about a Quaterly FS as well as Monthly and the Yearly one ?

It seems to fit in and give syou another chance to enter theose shot's you have lying about that you're not sure what to do with ?

Only another 4 challenges a year . .

Why not split the Free Study into the same subject but one with advanced editing and one with basic editing?

I agree with that, more advanced editing for members ;)

I already feel guilty about how few challenge I find the time to vote on...

But the scheduled time for the Speed Challenges....be random...so you never know when it is going to start!

ge'ez guys where do you get all that time to wanna do this?
08/03/2008 08:59:26 PM · #20
I think every Monthly Free Study should be split into Exclusive Free Studies, with one for "Landscape" and one for "Everything else" ;-)

Make the voting period as long as the submission period and it's a winning idea indeed.

I'm thinking a remainder challenge.

If you have enver won a ribbon, you can't enter. We keep going till I win one. ;-)

Other than that, Judi's idea is a good one.

To further my point. Look at this week's member challenge. Another(imo) boring subject matter. For me that's two in a row. If I had another choice of a Members only Challenge, like the registered users do with 2 basic editing challenges per week, then I would have a choice, but now I do not. I have to wait another week in hopes of an advanced challenge that may suit my tastes.

Does anyone understand my point or am I writing in Hieroglyphics?
