There have been threads about them here in the past.

Man I am adding contact like crazy now.

I have this one in Geometry if anyone cares to vote it: //www.jpgmag.com/photos/563075

I don't think we are all joining at the same time I have been there since March

A couple of people from my DPL team ( metatate & silverscreen)have entered images here and I've voted on them so I'm on the mailing list.

Wish I had time to pursue the contents of this magazine, as it looks really interesting.

I'm glad to know when others here at DPC have images in contention, so it's good to see these links.

I'm running thru and voting on those posted here. I don't think tho that being on the hotlist necessarily gives you an upper hand on being printed. I had a photo that was on the hotlist for almost the entire time except for probably the first few days and it didn't make it... (so did basssman7) oh well, such is life. Here is one of mine which I'd like to see get more attention, if nothing else. So if you would consider checking it out, I'd appreciate it.

I've been over there since January, 2007. Here's my link: See me at JPEG (The name Germaine was already taken when I signed up, so I became Daisy 8))

They started the feed-back options a few months ago, and I think things have gotten a lot more active over there. It seems to me to be a more international crowd, but very friendly, and a lot of good work.

I actually subscribe to the magazine. They have a lot of stuff on-line, so I sometimes feel like I've read the issue before it hits my mailbox.

I can't remember how I found the site. I think I was just surfing and stumbled on it. I liked what I saw, and the introductory subscription was really cheap, so I figured I'd support them. I don't think it's the greatest magazine out there, but I enjoy it. They've got a story section "My Precious" which has a lot of stuff by people writing about their odd-ball/antique/plastic, etc. cameras. That's my favorite part.

They also have a sister publication Everywhere Magazine, which is worth checking out.

Thanks! So far I'm up to 25 "Yeahs". Probably a long way to go still for publication :)

And I've voted for everyone who has posted so far!

One other question for those in the know: I didn't see anything about releases needed, should I by some miracle make the publication cutoff. It would be a pain to get releases for the people in my shot--though I probably could. Do you need them?

One other note...for those who looked, was it obvious, given the dark small presentation on the JPEG site, that the dancers were airborne?

[...and to help those just joining, here's my link, Here's the link for your convenience of not scrolling up or down...]

If it were easy enough, I'd collect all the links below into one message to make it easier. What we need is a DPC keyword search there :)

ETA: Ooh, I just added a new entry for Geometry. Vote here if you will.

Done! I just voted.

As for releases, I doubt you need them. The shot is being used as editorial/art content and should be exempt. Usually if you need releases, the magazine puts that in big print on the submission page. Was there anything iin the performance program or on your ticket that said you couldn't use photos from the performance?

Voted Yeah! Good Luck
08/02/2008 11:55:34 PM · #34
I voted, but I'm very certain that the number of "yeahs" has nothing to do with publication... the shot I had published only had 30 yeahs by the time voting was done.

Added my vote...

Oh, this looks like fun! Anyone want to vote for my shot? Added to the Geometry folder, it's a minimalist re-edit of last month's FS entry. I kinda like this one better, actually...

Ok, Zack, I've added my vote to yours.

Woot--my On Stage entry has been added to the "Hot" list! It only has 2 favorites and 30 "Yeah" votes, so maybe it's just someone at JPEG magazine picking that? I did notice my Whirlwind Passion getting the "Hot" label when it happened, but I don't think I ever saw the votes for that one. I doubt it was many--though it got a bunch of favorites very quickly--and of course, it wasn't published. (I was thinking it was because I added it so late in the cycle, just like I've now done for "On Stage" and "Geometry".

Let's all post a concise summary with links, ok? That way we can make sure we voted for everyone? And we can see how this works better by seeing the number of votes (and eventually, who gets in!)

Try to follow this format, and then perhaps we can consolidate the list into one post? (Of course we'll need to then update it eventually).

My Geometry entry has 31 views and 11 yeahs. (Added Aug 2)
My On Stage entry has 161 views, 30 yeahs, and it's hot! (added Aug 1)

Here's something interesting (but sad). My "On Stage" shot was labeled "Hot", but now it's not. :(

I remmeber this photo from here on dpc...mind pointing it out again for us?

Neither of my photos are inspiring anyone lol...

My Geometry has 18 Views and 7 Yeahs

My On Stage has 59 Views and 13 Yeahs

My most popular to date was in the Creatures theme with 738 Views and 143 Yeahs and it was the first time I had ever received a snarky comment there (but the dude removed it).

I had a photo in the democracy challenge that wasn't getting any views or votes, so when they split it out I put it into Democracy: Protests and now it is a Hot Photo
08/04/2008 07:53:00 PM · #48
Both of my entries are unchanged since Saturday. Guess it has slowed down alot around there, or so many photos I'm at the end of the line now.

Here is the voting link to my submissions:

Added votes for the "new" democracy links!

Mine are now as follows:

My Geometry entry has 49 views and 18 yeahs. (Added Aug 2)
My On Stage entry has 199 views, 33 yeahs, (and it's no longer hot)! (added Aug 1) [/quote]

Interesting to watch the "views" relative to the "yeahs". My On Stage picked up 38 views but only 3 yeahs and lost its hot rating. Geometry picked up 18 views and 7 yeahs.

My Geometry is up to

20 Yeahs

Before we started this thread I was picking up around 1 yeah per 6 views, now it's about one yeah per four views. This works.
