I just found out that my photography course requires that your camera can use a sync chord to fire the studio flashes/lights.. I went to use a flash unit today at a wedding and could not find a spot on my NIKON D-80 for a sync chord. Does anyone know how i can attach one or if the D-80 has a spot for one and i just somehow missed it?

You need a hot shoe adapter like this.

You might even get away with one of the solutions on this page.
This eliminates the need for a cable and the 1/4 inch plug fits a number of studio strobes. The tx module fits your hotshoe and could be lent out to other shooters if you like. It will work with many modern cameras, including many film models. They are pretty cheap too. Just take about 7 to 10 days to ship from China, depending on Chinese holidays. LOL
