I wish I'd said that. Yep, perfect statement of fact.

Hey Irene, there is something going on in your area electric power lines. Your town suggested that you turn your computer and all the electrical equipment off before midnight (before upload anything to FS) and turn it back on again 5 minutes after the midnight (ET USA)

that's for your good, don't tell me I didn't warn you ;)

*the time is now 11:58 pm EST USA*

*I wonder if that worked?!*

Anyone notice that all her big scores on her profile page were taken with a D50?

That seriously gives me hope.

I love my D70s and always thought it was capable of better images than I can do yet.

Thanks, Irene!

Ask her what kind of extension-tubes she has... I think they have a lot to do with her success :)

Yeah, okay.......it's your story, you tell it any way you want.

My point is that those of us that don't want to, or can't buy D3s and the like can entertain the hope that they can produce terrific images without spending so much.

I am telling you... extension-tubes that is :P

...and I think it's not the camera... it's like Tiger Woods uses a club, and you think if you use the same club you would be good as him, or close. It's the swing. Her shots would be good as now if she would be using Rebel XT with extension-tubes (cough) LOL

*She probably is very angry to me to reveal her secrets here LOL*

Jeb, I must tell you this. We went into town tonight after work because my husband wanted to check something out in our local camera shop. The owner of the shop actually asked me if I would sell him my D70 and D50 back. He said they were very sought after cameras and he could make me a good price. I told him "no way". My D70 was the first camera that gave me hope and I would never part with it for just that reason. Even if it was hanging in bits. I learned so much using it and the D50 is also a star in my book.
I was just doing some experimenting for a shot I want to try out and I thought to myself "c'mon use your D2X for a change". I started off with the D2X and after only 5 minutes changed to my D50 and immediately started getting the look I was going for. I love all my cameras but I promise you - the price of the camera has nothing to do with getting a good shot.

You realy do give me hope.

Every time I go to a GTG, I feel like the red-headed stepchild just carrying my D70s with the Tammy 28-300.....and that's it. No bag, no pile of equipment.....just the body and my walkaround lens.

I take it everywhere, all the time, and I'm just used to having it as an extension of my arm and eye.

I'll always take a minute and shoot something just for the sheer pleasure of trying to capture it.

Like this:[thumb]705371[/thumb]

This guy was just wandering around on a flower in the parking lot where my daughter has her drum lesson. Not world class, but I'm happy to have this.....I wouldn't have if I didn't feel so comfortable dragging the D70s EVERYWHERE.

And thanks to things I am constantly learning here, I'm getting better all the time.

Now I know that it's not my camera that needs to be better.......8>)

Thats good to hear! When i bought my D300 I had to make a deal with the wife not to get another body for 5 years! So maybe i can sneak a D50/D60 in! =^)

ETA: Plus i have a nikkor 60mm 2.8 macro as well. No tubes =^P

My hat came from Focuspoint. All you have to do to get one is be the 3rd highest scoring person to beat your average with a photo of an armadillo on a unicycle.

The legendary Ursula once told me in order for my little Nikon D40 to grow up big and strong and take beautiful photos...I need to soak it overnight once a week in squishy spinach...;-)

Ohh, is that the secret? Hey, if it'll help me beat the unbeatable Irene....*running off to buy lots of spinach*

And hey, just scrolled quickly through Irene's challenge results...even she finishes in the 5s on occasion, so that gives me hope :-)

Irenem, I would be curious to know more about the setups you have used for your macro shots. I have a set of vivitar extension tubes and several lenses with Macro capability(older but still good) and I have tremendous depth of field issues that prevent me from getting any really nice looking shots. Any info would be great.

I cannot believe she is getting ribbons like buying bread from a bakery store. I feel for her though. there is no excitement left... well, not too much anyway.

"Hey Irene, conrgats.. again"
"Oh, thanks... I am... well, very excited to have my 4365th ribbon!!!"

With this kind of run, one thing I know now. She has the eye, and she is the legend of DPC... until we all find out one day she actually is not IreneM from Germany, rather DrAchoo, scalvert and Larus's character they created and ran to cover up their boring ribbon runs and get out of my hate list :P

Well then what is the point of having a Platinum Diamond Deluxe credit card, if it can't buy you talent?

...and for everything else, there is MasterCard.

New Nikon d50, 600 dollars....
Extension tubes, 100 dollars...
Random object from your yard and drop of water, free...

Watching all of the forum dwellers on dpc whine cause you take all the ribbons... Priceless

Man, it's high time the backlash begins against well done, well lit, indoor studio macros!

LOL personally I am in awe of Irene, and know damn well that I could buy every piece of equipment she has, and still not come close to a ribbon. But she certainly inspires me!

Frankly I get a kick out of seeing her name pop up 1-3x week after week after week...

To be honest, there's no whining. I'm amazed and thankful that people here are so fair. I even get a lot of pm's congratulating. I love this place.
