Actually after just over nine years of service, I've only been shot at once. And I can't really say it was AT me. I just heard the shot, the bullet whirring past somewhere close to me and shamelessly dove into the nearest bush LOL. I wasn't on the ship either. I was at a base waiting for my ride to take me to the airport to fly me home on emergency leave. They had a sniper issue there for a week or so taking random shots at people on base. Was kind of scary for a bit while I was there. Would be different if I was on the front and expecting to be shot at. As it was, nearly shite myself. ;o) Good story to tell over a beer now and then though. I see what I do as just another job. Still the same issues you'd see anywhere else. Dealing with stupid people and bungholes half the time. Benefits are good though. And I can say with a lot of pride that what I do protects Freedom, something I value highly. It matters not to me if it's my freedom, your freedom, or my worst enemy's freedom. I think it's worth protecting at any price. Hehe, stepping off my soapbox. I get going once in a while. *blush*

after 20 years you can retire from the military (or at least airforce that i know of).
and the thank you was for Jack's freedom speech. Just to say thanks for his job being just like mine, but he gets shot at by snipers where as I only get attacked by servers. =^D
