How bout that? Not just black on white or white on black, but Indian vs Asian, or maybe even sexism, male vs female as a topic. Show the ignorance related to the topic. Show also the rhetoric and coincidentally enough the "propaganda" associate therein.

I think it is a good topic. Whites are segregated against, blacks are segregated against, women, Asians, Indians, whatever..there is always going to be a situation (usually political) where any race or sex on earth is persecuted no matter what.

I'd rather not see this as a challenge topic in the immediate future though. It has a definite political bent to it, same as propaganda will have for most people.
I'd rather, if this were to be a challenge, it not be one of the next ones.

I think male vs female is a better one than racism... as the former is less likely to offend people I guess... Just my belief
Anyway...just to correct, Indians are Asians =) All part of Asia... |

This Cherokee is not from India, nor Asia.

Racism would be a challenging topic to photograph. I'm willing to give it a try. |

I would be a difficult challenge. Racism, where I'm at, is more hidden or subtle or cunning, perhaps less of a black and white photo?
The poor and mentally ill are being targeted, as much as the honest and the gifted... |

i think it's a great idea, but i that unfortunately it'll go misunderstood, and might cause more resentment than good... just my opinion tho.

Why do something like this here? We have racism in our everyday life. A challenge like this could single out some members, or even let some of them feel the racisms here as well as what they face everyday. |

I think this is a very appropriate topic.
I agree maybe not right on the heals of propaganda though.
As photographers it is important for us to deal with the difficult subjects and not just the "nice" ones. |

I think the topic name is terrible and would cause problems.
However- ethnicity, cultures or something along those lines would be more appropriate. |

Well I'm sure this topic would cause an overflow of forum threads once it gets going.

How about "prejudice". Or some other more generic term which includes other aspects of segregation, bigotry, persecution, etc., and would allow for more widespread applications, such as those zeuszen pointed out.
Though, it would lead to a lot of contention. Often times both sides of a conflict will feel like the "persecuted" party... |

I agree. The title "racism" or "prejudice" would most likely cause problems. "ethnicity" would be much more appropriate. |

But, ethinicity does not pertain to the topic of racism or prejudice.
It is a much safer topic for sure. Why should the other terms cause problems? |

I hope problems would be minimal....after all we want to have racism as a topic so that we can unmask racism in its own skin (essentially condeming it of course), and not having a challenge to take a racist photo i guess...
