Agreed. All suggestions should be for DPCO III.

First, Thanks DD and congrats. Poland.

I dunno, I think were in the 3rd weeks votes right now, Poland has a huge lead. Maybe we should ask them if they mind a little more competition. In the event we use cpanaioti system, they still have 20 points, but the 2 teams behind them both have 14 instead of 8. and frankly, if poland comes in 2nd/3rd for the hot/cold challenge, they still have 26-28 points. this makes the competition a bit tighter.

POland how do you feel about this?

Whilst I'd love to see the Poles brought down a peg or two they are winning fair and square with the current scoring method, and, if another country makes a stand and wins the next 3 weeks then they will be winning - you can't move the goalposts midway through.

and YA! the UK got 4 points and a Bronze Medal :)

Totally opposed as is the rest of the Polish team.. we made a ruleset, it has been the same from DPCO 1 and was not changed, we are 2 weeks in to the tourny now.. if it was the 1st week then maybe but c'mon guys.. If it makes you all feel better we are having a very bad week this week and might not even get any points at all.

If its not too much work, how about just adding the "alternative scoring method" to see the difference?

07/23/2008 04:56:59 PM · #34
Jeez, I hate to say it but I'm with MAK on this.

Do an alternative by all means but (for me) I'll be following the original rules/voting method
07/23/2008 04:59:06 PM · #35
I say, keep it the same.. Even if it means my team will have no chance to win.. I personally don't care about the team score as much about each of us doing a little better then our average. If we accomplish that, then maybe we learned something or got a little better. Besides, it's not fair to the people who are winning. And, I believe someone already said this, but just to say it again.....

We knew the rules AND how the scoring was done prior to volunteering to play.. You can't change it now.

just a (joking theme) thought, if you want to stop the Poles from winning, why not give them a dope test? (/joking theme)

I stopped smoking that stuff years ago.

This is just a game but when we started it we all new the rules - and I have to say that I am not in favor of changing the rules now. That is my personal opinion.

It is quite early in the game. And whatever lead team Poland has is not by any means set in stone. For the honor of the game, even if team Poland was closer to the bottom of the roster, I'm against changing the rules in the middle of the game. If there where any rules to be changed, should've done before this 2nd round of the DPC Olympics. Because if the rules are changed once it leaves the door open for other changes and it might end up a totally different beast than many signed up for. Back in Oly#1, Iceland got there shares of 10s and no one really complained? Poland got their share too. Iceland won fair and sqaure. It was a tight race to watch.
07/23/2008 05:29:31 PM · #40
Last time no one complained that Iceland was kicking everyone's butt. Sorry, but everyone knew the pointing system, so no use complaining about it now. All it takes it a couple of challenges that Poland doesn't win, and all the others catch up. Nothing to it. 6 weeks to go.... anything can happen.

Edit: Techo and me were writing at the same time..... great minds think alike, that's why WE ARE NUMBER 1!!!

okay well lets just all understand that I am not really changing any rules, just the point system. The teams that are in the lead now will stay in the lead and everyone will still be in the same place. I think it would change the outcome after some time and it would be more fair but it's not my call.

I don't care either way, I'm not playing just tracking it for everyone. My thoughts are it should have been done before hand and it is too late in theory but wouldn't only take me about 5 minutes to make the changes and reupdate the page.
07/23/2008 05:41:27 PM · #42
The point system is part of the rules. So you would be changing them. I say, there should be no changes at this stage.

i think that it is rather an naughty to try and change it now, this was discussed earlier on and if you want to do it your way with your point system then you have to set up the side challenges the way it is. This rather throws puke into the face of the people that organized it in the first place.,
07/23/2008 05:45:38 PM · #45
lots of Polska team member replies and why not, I agree and say leave things as they are, the best team will win. Change the rules for OIII if peeps think they need changing but don't put a hurdle in the 100 metres after the race has started!
07/23/2008 05:46:50 PM · #46
We've already started so, like I said earlier in the thread ...

There would be a lot of comments from us even if were not on top. Rules are rules, and that's that. Simple easy. If someone doesn't like them, they can their toys and go play somewhere else...

Yeah Im game. Like I said ask the Poles. We did, they opposed. So the new point system should apply to DPCO III. Then you can all just hope the Poles are having a really, really bad week. Then we can pick on the Icelanders and the aussies!! =^)
