My partner surpirsed me today with a new camera:

We had been talking about getting a new one before our trip to London in September, but I didn't know he had ordered it until he came home with it. I fiddled around with it a bit this evening, thankfully most of the controls are the same as my other camera so I hope it won't take too long to get used to it.

Edit:
Well, I sent the camera back for an exchange. I think I got a lemon. Serious focus and photo quality issues. Hopefull the replacement is better. If not, no new camea for me.

Does anyone else have this camea? So far I am not impressed. Photos are not as good as with my old camera. They are washed out, dull and just ugly! LOL I suppose I will have to set some parameters but really I did not want to have to fool around (I don't shoot RAW and have no desire to do so in the near future).

Isn't that the same Rebel XSi that Popular Photograhy magazine just raved about?!

I hope you get a better version with your exchange. Good luck!

That sucks, hope you are happier with your next camera.

What I liked about the camera:

-large lcd screen
-fast to focus
-shoots in RAW + jpg
-quick to save photos
-rapid shoot is amazing
-nice feel/slightly smaller than the rebel

Why I think I got a lemon:

-not all photos were in focus
-tendency to overexpose the images
-colours did not appear bright or even true to life
-I took the same photo with both cameras (using the same lens) and in every case the photo from my old camera was way better
