Your AF-S DX lenses will function properly, the Sigma and the 50mm you will have to manually focus.

Hey, let's take this in another direction....how 'bout we post pics of places we enjoy walking?

This is Children's Lake in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania. It's got year 'round walkability with a main path around it that is maintained.

Winter: [thumb]648647[/thumb] Winter: [thumb]630023[/thumb] Summer: [thumb]493708[/thumb]

I'd love to see the beautiful places y'all walk.

Well, since you're now at the DC zoo, you're gonna spend the day seeing 'em! :)

Oh, this is going to suck mightily. Not so much with the 50, but the Sigma.

Sweet - it's been updated to include Canada now !

It gave me a score of 30/100 - car dependant.
But it doesn't have our local grocery store on the map, or a few other stores either.

But they failed to take into account that it is 113 degrees out there and no one in their right mind is walking anywhere.

Did you get rid of your D50? If you have both, you can always use two bodies. I'm hoping I can save enough money to get the D300 but until then, I'll keep my D50.

OK I was asked to join this wonderful and illustrious team, Team Suck, by my new friend and your long time friend Basssman7. Ernie told me to send your Devilishly handsome leader posthumous a PM and if he considers me worthy I would be assigned a task to perform, something like a poem or a song or some such thing.

So I wrote to your leader:

"Dear fearless leader: I have been invited to join your team by Ernie
(basssman7),and after hours (seconds actually) of meditation and
deliberation I decided to ask you if I could be allowed to join you and your
illustrious team mates.

Personally I would be thrilled to death if you would let me join you.

All the best to you and yours.

MAX!

Some quotes that other team mates have said about me:

"plays well with others"

"never runs with scissors"

"looks both ways before he shoves old ladies into traffic"

"will do anything for you, including get rid of the body"

"he always stands to reason and to pee"

"he's a hell of a good looker, he never stops until he finds what
you've dropped"

The list goes on and I would be happy to post more for you if
necessary.

Hope to hear from you soon, I'm deaf in my right ear so speak up when
you call.

MAX!"

Now after that wonderful introduction I thought I would be a shoe in for a poem or a song. Something challenging but not out of reach for my talent pool. Obviously he must of seen right through me because this was how he responded to my message:

"DPChallenge user posthumous has sent you the following private message:

As with all (most) new members of Team Suck, you must fulfill a secret
mission.

Your mission is...

to tell NikonJeb something about cars that he doesn't already know. Do
it on the Team Suck thread so there is public documentation.

Good luck. This may be the most difficult mission yet..."

So after seeing my mission I thought maybe I came on a little strong in my introduction, or maybe he just hates me!

So I sent him this little note:

"I'm beginning to feel like I'm not wanted:(

But I shall never give up and I accept your challenge.

MAX!"

And then like a gift from GOD I was given new hope as I read his response:

"MAX!

Don't be discouraged! You don't have to stump him on the first try. You
get as many chances as you need.

Go for it!"

So here I am on the oh so public thread (feeling like I have my pants down) trying for the first time to see if I can stump NikonJeb with my limited knowledge of the automobile. So for my first attempt I thought I would stay from the main stream autos and stick to something a lot closer to home.

Jeb did you know that I first learned to drive when I was nine? My uncle Tom taught me to drive his 1963 3 in the tree GMC truck, I had to clutch in and out of gear to get this baby to move. Oh and did you know that my first car was a 1971 Honda Civic 600 Sedan?

Now after rereading this post over, before I posted it, I thought I would probably not get a nod from Don for this kind of attempt, after all how would Jeb ever know anything about my past car experiences, so I thought I better dig a little deeper and see what I could come up with that Jeb would not know about cars. And then it hit me, The Tudhope car. These cars were manufactured in my home town in the early 1900's, 1908-1913 they had a 4 cylinder engine with 36 horse power which they cleverly named the 4-36. There are only two of these models left in the world and one is in our city hall and the other one is here too and owned by the brother of the man who keeps his in city hall. They are the great-grandsons of the company founder.

Of the 2,500 cars Tudhope built, only 11 are known to exist today, most of them Tudhope-McIntyre motorized carriages, they were also the first car to offer a two-year warranty.

OK Jeb that's what I got and I need to know if this is news to you or did you work on the assembly line and I have to start all over again??

Alright I know I'm long winded for my first post to this thread, but I read some of the past threads and I'm not the only one.

So all the best to everyone and I hope I get the chance to call all of you team mates soon.

MAX!

Edited to remove the "s" from Sucks as recommended by my good friend and team mate levyj413

"Max, I'd say that based solely on your entry post, you're a shoe-in.

As Max's "Mid-Life Crisis" teammate, I can vouch that he never takes his pants off when shooting. Or, at least, he hasn't posted such a photo to our team thread.

But, Max, you gotta get the name straight. Team Suck, not Team Sucks. ;)"

DON did you notice yet another solid reference as to my moral character??

Great post, Max! I think you can probably hang around for awhile. While Jeb may know of the nifty car from your town, I can assure you I did not. Then again, there's the off chance you made it all up...

NikonJeb on line right now, and making comments in the 'slice of life' side challenge. I think he is at work while visiting us here at DPC-land.

Yes, the D50 is gone. Took advantage of a local trade-up offer.
