I think Bush has used executive privilege a handful of times now. I can't seem to find a list, chart or graph but I know at least 3 cases. The inquiries seem to fade away from the spotlight quickly after that. I see an interesting parallel between that and much of the Patriot Act and Guantanamo Bay "guilty until proven innocent" philosophy among other insanely questionable dents in the Constitution.

Obviously Bush is above the laws of this country. But why should we let this 'most noble' of public servants be this way?

I would have put this in rant but it's more of a question than a rant. I just don't get it.

I've wondered the same thing before, and came upon an article that I found interesting and relevant.

From this site:

"From Hitler to Pinochet and beyond, history shows there are certain steps that any would-be dictator must take to destroy constitutional freedoms. And, argues Naomi Wolf, George Bush and his administration seem to be taking them all."

In my opinion, what it comes down to is fear. The Bush administration has instilled so much fear in the general public that many are willing to give up their rights and allow laws to be broken if it makes them feel safer.

Not everyone is letting it be this way: //www.impeachbush.org

Read 1984 by George Orwell for a complete explanation of how this works.

This has happened to Kennedy too.

I wonder if any Republicans in congress go through this?

Seems strange. There are 11,301 people in the U.S. named John Lewis. I wonder if they all are given problems at the airport.

Nah, they have their own planes. The oil companies got them each one as a way to say "Thank You" for boosting their profits to record levels by starting the war in Iraq.
