You'll have to enlighten. I've never heard this before. Why would the camera have dust issues vs. other bodies?

Canon has more lenses and has the L-Glass which is far better than Nikon's VR. I'm not going to lie that that Nikon bodies are better a bit than Canon, but the lenses in Canon are far superior.

VR isn't glass it's Vibration Reduction.
IS = Image Stabilization -Canon

"About Nikon glass from nikon.ca"
Each lens incorporates a variety of original Nikon technologies. Nano Crystal Coating, for example, which originated with the development of Nikon Step-and-Repeat semiconductor manufacturing devices, considerably reduces ghosts and flare with its anti-reflective coating effect; ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements effectively minimize chromatic aberration for superior sharpness and colour correction; and aspherical lenses virtually eliminate coma and other types of lens aberration.

Not true dude go read up brotha. And VR is the equivalent of Canons IS it has nothing to do with the optics.

EDIT: DR beat me too it!

Not biased much huh? :-)

Great glass is great glass no matter the manufacturer.

I've just heard a lot of people complain about it. I guess its not that big a deal since you have one huh?

Which of the broken ones do you want?

My experience is that you get dust, but not worse than the 300D I had. I suppose someone might claim the larger sensor has a larger charge and attracts more dust, but I haven't seen this bear out in my N of 1.

gasp you broke them!!! Shame shame....
07/17/2008 07:23:46 PM · #38
hmmmmm. Many more submissions by Canons than Nikons: //dpchallenge.com/camera.php?action=browse&view=avgvote&orderby=SUBMISSIONS&sort=desc.
In the top 10:
Canon has 7 of the top 10 of the most submitted photos.

There have really only been two. The one that broke got dunked twice. The first time was fresh water and was reparable. The second time was salt water and it was toast. The second 5D is the one I have now. Don't feel bad for me. Insurance paid for everything.

I would dare to say that talent has significantly more impact on the results than the actual camera (or camera brand) used. If you're a good photographer, you can take amazing pictures and earn ribbons with the cheapest camera. And if you have no clue, even using a 1D or a D3 won't help.

The two brands may have strengths in different areas, but their impact is minimal. I'd say that if the same photographer takes the same picture once with a Canon and once with a Nikon camera (of the same generation), you wouldn't be able to tell which is which. This is more of a religious discussion we are having here.

And please forget about the statistics. There's no way to control for all the other factors influencing the scores.

Thanks for the good laugh! That should read, some Canon lenses are superior (like the 85 1.2L), while some Nikon lenses blow everyone else out of the water (14-24 2.8). Both brands make killer lenses (with Nikon being better overall, of course :-P ).

The 14-24 is the one I got to test on the d300. it was awesome i'll admit

The 14-24 is the best 14mm lens ever made, apparently. Canon FF shooters have been buying it, along with a custom adapter, to allow them to use it on their 5 and 1 series bodies...

Ah well that's good. No worries. May I ask what kind of insurance you had that covered you? In a year or two, I might be interested in having some equipment insured, but I'm not entirely sure on the process and coverage.

Best,
-AC.
