The word for today is; Lose

From Websters; to suffer loss through the death or final separation from (a person)
to undergo defeat, to cause the loss of, to fail to keep, sustain, or maintain.

But the real reason it's the word of the day is because of its pronunciation. Lose rhymes with fuse or muse. Not to be confused with the word loose, which rhymes with moose, and means not tight .

More words of the day can be added by others who find the misuse of certain words annoying.

Sorry, don't want to be the grammar police but I saw it used twice in the same thread by 2 people this morning and I felt I had enough, I mean we are mostly adults here, not texting teenagers who think shorthand is a language from Shorthand, the country.:)

Side note: I travel to Norway often on business. The Norwegian word for "speed" is "fart"

In the hotels you'll see placards touting their high speed Internet access. In big bold type on the top of the card is "FART?"

Then it goes on to show how to connect to the high speen Intranet.

I always get a kick out of that.
