Wow, I'm away from DPC for a few days and found everyone left without me! Let me in, and I'll add a splash of color to the results room with Melethia's team leading photo. |

I believe Deb had asked about getting the animated look without the expense of buying a pricey software package. Here is a strobist article. |

Thanks, Mary! I'll bookmark this and give it a shot, though I rarely shoot the way they recommend with the light (seeing as how I have no lights - that could be the problem.) Still, looks to be fun! But not for basic editing, kids! Only try this at home for personal use or advanced editing. Carry on. |

Wonder why s/he emigrated? You'd think Ireland and it's old castles would provide much better haunting opportunities. Aspired to be a modern suburban ghost after seeing Poltergeist?
Weird. |

Wow what a cool new home! And the stone walls will ensure it does stay cool for the summer!
Yes, that's the recipe I used, found it on first page of Google. Once Octopussy realized there was no way out of beinhg bathed, he did some bloodcurdling yowls then left it at that. Fortunately he didn't get any in his eyes, so I didn't have to rush him to the vet, and just carefully rubbed his face. Gawd he was a sorry, sodden sight! But now he has made a full recovery, but I think the stinkycat got another blast at him as he (Octopussy) was turning to leave, cause his tail still smells a little funky. But it's fading. :-)
Hey, how's everyone else doing in -

I need some photoshop help here. I just tried that Dave Hill strobist thing and I do not know much about the lasso tool. It says you are supposed to select the eyes. How do I do that? I find that i can only make one loop with the tool. Do I just draw a big circle around the whole area or is there a way to make to separate loops? |

Down in the lower right hand corner should be a tiny little tab. Select that and you should get a menu that includes the magnetic lasso. That's what you need. |

I you hold the shift key down while using one of the selection tools, you can add to the selected area. So you draw round one eye, press and hold down one of the shift keys and draw round the other eye. If you've expanded the picture ludicrously so as to have better control of the line you draw, then it's ok to release the shift key while you move the picture around so that you can get to the other eye.
If you accidentally grab too much with the lasso, then hold down Alt while drawing around the area(s) you wish to subtract from your selection.
A little + or - should appear by the end of the lariat when you apply these tricks. |

Here's
what I just did with this:
It's the sort of trashy editing (I included all sorts of shadow/highlight and burn brush as well as over-the-top Neat Image followed by touch-up brushing and blur on facial artifacts) that I dislike, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if these two liked it.
They just got married. They come from some place I can't remember the name of. According to China it's China but according to them it isn't. So they're refugees. I know the girl as a pupil - she had to learn Norwegian. They look cute and probably are, but I suspect they're a whole lot tougher than you'll ever dream of. If you needed any reminding about why we should boycott the olympics... |

Interesting processing, Raish. Amazing what you could pull from that shot, too! Ain't digital fun?
I have apparently hit a home run with my non-landscape, or at least a home run by my definition. It's a shot I'm quite taken with and is scoring north of 6 at the moment. We'll see if that holds, but for now I'm quite happy! |
