I took two photos yesterday of two completely different things and I can't decide which one to enter into the contest tonight. There's one of them that I think has real potential, either that or it's really crappy, I can't decide, lol. I've been going back and forth all day and I give up. I just need a different eye to look at them, preferably an eye that knows what DPC'ers are looking for and isn't afraid to tell me if my two choices both suck, lol.
So if someone is around that wouldn't mind taking a minute to look at my choices, I would appreciate it!

I've never yet worked out what DPC'ers are looking for and it's probably going down the road of madness to second guess them - put in the shot you like - you've done pretty well thus far choosing your own entries : ) |

lol Wendy, with a 5.9 average am pretty sure they are both great and you will choose wisely. Ping a shot over to me if you like and I'll give you an average fotogs thoughts ;)
edited to say I'm seasoned (as in old) rather than an oft ribbon winner lol

scarbrd, thank you so much the advice! I'm going to try the edits you suggested.
I feel like I take decent photos and when I enter the challenges I consistantly score high fives or low sixes but I really want to push myself out of that range. I don't want to take good photos, I want to take GREAT photos! :) I've really only been serious about photography for a little over a year and I'm mostly self taught, so I guess I'm doing OK for the amount of time I've been doing it, but darn it, I'm ready to win one for once! :) |

Good luck! I had over 100 challenges, just over a year, and 3 scores over 7 before I won a ribbon.
Hang in there, it'll come. You've got the chops for it. I've yet to figure out a formula for scoring high consistently. And it's been said many times in many forum threads, just because a shot doesn't score well, don't think it's a bad shot. There is a lot going on with the scoring here. Some voters are very particular about the technical details, some more about the moment captured, and others have to completely blown away to get them off the "5" button.
Your average is more than respectable. Keep looking at other people's work, try to add your own special touch to a photograph, and keep up the post processing skills. More ribbons are won on post processing than you might think. |

Hey Wendy
If you want I can have a look. I am not an expert and since I don't have time to take my own pics I wouldn't mind taking a look and giving you my thoughts.
