first question -- that is the absurb part to me. i really don't give a freak what happens to my stuff

and i don't understand your second question. well, i mean i understand it, but i don't understand the context you are asking it. is it a response to my "leaving it to friends" comment? if so, not all of my friends are christians.

no I mean that this comment "We have set up a system to send documents by the email, to the addresses you provide, 6 days after the "Rapture" of the Church. This occurs when 3 of our 5 team members scattered around the U.S fail to log in over a 3 day period. Another 3 days are given to fail safe any false triggering of the system." made it seem to me that only 3 out of the 5 of their team members would go with the rapture. Does that make more sense??

there are several different perspectives, but no, perhaps the end of the world as we know it would be a more apt description

heres a wiki on it..

In fundamentalist Christian eschatology, the Rapture is the name given to the future event in which it is believed that Jesus Christ will descend from Heaven, accompanied by the spirits of all the saints of God, both from the pre-incarnation period and after, who have passed on prior to the rapture, and then the bodies of the saints are joined with their spirits in a resurrection - the First Resurrection - to meet the Lord. Immediately after this, all true Christians alive on the earth are simultaneously transported to meet the Lord and those who have preceded them in the air as well, all, having been transformed into immortal bodies like Jesus' body, often referred to as the "resurrection body".

Wow, that whole thing is as idiotic as Rapture Letters.

No... Your clothes and possessions will fall in a heap marking the spot where you were while your gloriously naked-as-in-the-moment-of-creation body rises on a shaft of pure, celestial light to meet, at long last, your beloved Maker face to face :-)

I see many that haven't read it very carefully, but are very quick to judge. I also see many who on one hand shout for diversity and understanding, but wouldn't dream of letting a Christian get away without a scoffing. You don't agree, you don't understand, you don't believe, fine, why not just leave them alone, and let them be. I don't really understand your problems with this at all. I wouldn't do it, I suppose most people wouldn't, and even to some believers it might be a bit silly. It's not theft, or deception, or lying or cheating. It's trying to fill a need some might perceive as real. Yes, about like a TV preacher, maybe. I just don't watch them, I don't send them money. But I don't send politicians money, either...but I'll bet a bunch of you DO!

The Rapture was also the name of a surprisingly freaky movie.

That was a freaky movie, but Mimi Rogers was always a fave of mine, on so many levels! ;-)

i think what most people have a problem with is that this seems a great deal like someone making a fast buck from people's deep beliefs. whoever the company behind this idea, they may make an inordinate amount of money while giving nothing in return, trading on the trust and belief of people who believe in the rapture.

Fortunately for the rest of us, being foolish with our money...as some would count foolishness...has not yet become one of those aspects of life that our governments feel compelled to control. What do you do foolishly with YOUR money, and aren't you glad to be free to do it?

Actually, I did read it. What bothers me about it...is if the site were genuinely trying to achieve the goal of allowing it's subscribers to reach out to others during the tribulation period in the true spirit of Christian generousity...then why not offer something for FREE (like a trigger of a limited amount of emails (say 10?) "Letters of Love") and then a higher level of subscription (for storage and such) for an fee? IMHO...that would give the site a much more genuine feel than a flat rate of $40.00 just to ease my anxiety over those "left behind."

But, perhaps I didn't read it thoroughly enough as I'm always so lost in these matters. I always appreciate those willing to enlighten me in a genuine fashion.

Well, just my two cents...:-/

Actually I did go to the site and read it carefully. And I think it is a lot like having yourself frozen for later revival. The 3 of 5 not logging in seems a bit of a gimmick. If the Rapture does happen, whether or not they all went it wouldn't matter. Even if they all stayed, would they not trigger the "system". Are these people bonded? Before I turn over bank account numbers etc., I would really want to be sure who I was dealing with.

And the part about sending information on being a Christian to those who remained behind, seems unnecessary. IF the Rature occured, and IF a lot of people rose up on shafts of light, the debate about Christianity would be about over at that point, wouldn't you think?

Add to that, if a large portion of the population disappeared in a spiritual event, most folks left behind may be a bit busy trying to prevent the collapse of the remaining civilization.
