I'm just done. I am SO sick of my images being under rated. The focus is dead on, the lighting is beautiful... I quit DPC, it's not worth my time anymore. Go ahead and call me a whiny baby, I could care less. Maybe if I had a popular name I could get some ribbons. |

Well at least your at a five. I'm still working on getting there and I am getting fustrated. Spent two days looking at three different shots and decided on one I really liked, well maybe I should have submitted my second choice instead. Oh hum |

I don't know if a popular name would help you, as names aren't displayed when voting.
You could always try a picture of mountains reflected in a lake, those go over well.

I think you just need to change your goals. While it would be nice to be recognized with good scores, or better yet ribbons, the main reason I am here is to learn, and to be part of the community so that other people know about my work. There is always something to learn, so take in what you can, and apply it to your own style. |

Your going about it the wrong way. It sounds like you are using DPC as some kind of ego booster (wanting ribbons) or seeking validation from others that your photos are good (giving up b/c you thought aspects of the photo were perfect, but it's scoring low). If you are just here for the challenge aspect and to win ribbons, then you are obviously going to be pouty about your scores. You need to develop some thicker skin.
Remember that perception of a photo is subjective. After the challenge is over, if you have a few 10s, 9s, or 8s, then obviously the impact of your photo got across to a few people.
I'm on here because it motivates me to shoot a variety of things, and get out of my photography comfort zone. The challenge themes make me think about different types of shots and set-ups that I would have never bothered with on my own. It's a learning process. I'll just keep submitting what I like and continue learning how I can make improvements.

The usual trend seems to be if you start off really low, it climbs and if you start off great, it'll drop. I alos notice that the high or low votes tend to come together. I have my pet theories as to why. At any rate, mine is getting to a non-sucky value...

I was 7.1 something last night now, 6.6 when I woke up, 6.4 when I got to work ... I've steadily dropped to 6.09
