We're heading out on our family vacation next week, including the Grand Canyon, Moab, Pike's Peak, and we'll be spending a couple days in Las Vegas, too. Couple questions... first, I'm interested in finding some great photo spots there. Obviously there are a lot of possibilities -- just looking to see some DPC'er favorites!

And my second question... we're not huge gamblers (it's easily possible I won't even pull a single slot machine arm while we're there), and we'll be traveling with our 9-year-old daughter. Any suggestions for can't-miss fun activities? Any great water parks, or other sorts of stuff the whole family might enjoy?

It has been a long, long time since I've been to Sin City, so I'm looking forward to seeing it nowadays.

Thank you... thank you very much :)

Alan, my wife and I took our son out there a few years ago. We also went to Grand Canyon, Bryce, and Hoover Dam. He loved all of them. He also really liked the Cirque Du Soleil show. The show's pricey, but certainly an experience.

an added benefit of walking around LV with a youngster in tow: you don't get any porn adverts handed to you as you walk down the street!

We all enjoyed our Red Rock Canyon trip, and one of the highlights of that one was Bonnie Springs.

It is a cheesy (but fun) old Western town, complete with a show in the saloon, as well as an outdoor adventure that culminates in a "hanging". Don't worry about the hanging part, she will easily understand that it is all make-believe and she will sooooooo enjoy the fun and spectacle of it.

Right next door at Bonnie Springs is also a sort of miniature zoo that our daughter enjoyed a lot.

Even the restrooms are fun (at least the ladies...... didn't check out the guys :-)

Feel free to check out my Vegas album

Just did that trip in May...

Moab - Arches National Park. Seen some amazing sunsets there... Bring a wide angle lens if you have one. If you're camping.. make sure your tent is fully enclosed, no spots where sand can sneak through.. we had a light summer tent with a mesh inside liner, NO second layer to zip up and insulate. We literally had sand dunes inside.

Grand Canyon - if you're headed to North Rim, make sure you reserve your dinner table WELL in advance. (Noon!)

Our album is here:
