You're probably right, but this is unfortunate, in my opinion. They released the 40D, which sits around the $1150 price point. The 1D's start well above $4000 - a bit much for even a serious hobbyist. And the only thing inbetween is the 3-year old 5D, which is starting to lose it's appeal.
Meanwhile Nikon has the D200, D300 and D700 sitting in this "Canon dead zone" from $1150 - $4000. In fact, the more I look at the D700, the more I drool... |

I assume you're being facetious, but to answer your question, I'm not that invested in Canon (I only have a low-end body and one L lens), and as I've explained below there's a big hole in Canon's lineup at my prospective price point.
Still, $3k is a little steep, and a min ISO 200 seems questionable... What I'd really like is a 40D replacement with a FF sensor! =P |
