Im archiving a book that is in magazine format to pdf. The pages are @ 300 DPI but of course this produces images that are HUGE for a display document. I was wondering if anyone ever published something to pdf and what the general recommendations are as far as scaling the pages.

I looked around to see if anyone had a standard for magazines published to pdf which many are availiable in a similar format such as zinio.

1) What do you mean by "magazine format?"

2) I have been using Acrobat since Version 1 -- the "best" way to save it will depend on the answer to #1 and the current version(s) and types of software you have to work with.

Basically, I try to print my native files to a PostScript® file, and then process them through the Acrobat Distiller program -- but I have access to the full professional version at work. Distiller lets you determine file size and quality by controlling the resampling and compression parameters.

Well im mostly trying to prep the png scans to be ready to process. Not sure what im going to use I have 6 and 7 pro but there are 3rd party solutions that i could use.

Its literally printed like a magazine and i havent been able to figure the exact aspect ratio the crop im using is 2:2.64 which also works out to 25:66. I was just looking to archive it to a pdf so i can not handle the original I have 3 copies one of which is damaged this one is in fair coniditon and the other copy is in mint never been touched.

But im just not sure what dimentions to go with. Something like the physical length and width @ 96 dpi or something just to get the pixel dimensions to a reasonable size. Get what i mean?

Okay no measuring tape and my micrometer doesnt go past 6 inches.

Pages seem to be slightly smaller than 8 x 10

So say 8 x 10 @ 300 DPI. Its too big for display. Not sure how i should be resizing the images but the method would be to just throw them through patch with the same dimensions since i cropped by aspect ratio.

I could go by saying they dont need to be more than 1000 pixels tall but i mean thats just throwing the average height of a display up i was just curious if there was anything close to a standard thats used when publishing 8x10 documents to a pdf or any displayed document format.
