Wow thanks for the heads up did not realize it was going on. It's only about 80 miles for me to get there. Yeah would like to know who else might be going. Might make a nice GTG |

That's what I was thinking. Unfortunately for me (according to google maps) it 236 miles from my home and a 4+ hour drive. So we will be getting up early Saturday for the long drive. |

Yes, nards656 and I will be there on Saturday with my kids and in-laws. As I type this, I am sitting in a motel in Huntsville.
I'll be the one with a camera!
Seriously, anyone else going to be there? |

SDW -- might want to check that county line route. I think I read something about it being closed, but that might just be when the Blue Angels are flying. |

We drove down by the airport this evening. #7 was already there. I suspect 1 - 6 will fly in sometime tomorrow.

While you're there, try to visit the US Space and Rocket Center, exit 14 off 565. |

We went to the space museum, and then the botanical gardens. As we were leaving, we heard something that could only be one thing --
so we headed toward the airport and caught sight of this . . . .
pretty cool watching them practice. :)
I'll be wearing a white golf shirt with my name on it. Holler if you see me!

Arrived home a few hours ago. What a great performance by the performers, especially the Blue Angles.
Now I have 2- 2gib Cards to process. One of them are all Blue Angle photos. This time I shot all pictures in RAW format.
--------------------
The show ended on a sad note today. Storms with winds up to 50 mph blew over tents and a generator which fell on a little child killing him. Another child was hospitalized in serious condition and 12 other people injured. My family and I were no where around the area that this happened. The Airshow had to be canceled today. |

Awww man, that is terrible. :( My mom called to see if we had any of the bad weather, but apparently we headed out of Huntsville just before it hit.
The show was great yesterday. HOT HOT HOT hOT, miserably hot. But, the planes were cool. I didn't take as many as you did, but I was shooting in jpeg, because I knew there would be a lot of them. Between the space museum, the botanical garden, the airshow, and just general "vacation documentation," I took almost 1000 pictures.
Now, to see if I can shoehorn them into any challenges. :)
Did I mention it was hot yesterday? (No exaggeration -- we got back to the hotel and took off my socks. I thought, "Man, I got a good tan today." Then, I took a shower and watched it rinse down the drain. The sweat and sunscreen made all that dirt and stuff stick to me.)

My son asked me what I didn't like about the airshow. I summed it up in one word HOT!. Was it me or did it feel like it was 110 deg. I know it was like 91 but I think being on the pavement it had to be above a 100.
You took more than me, I think. I shot in RAW so I got about 250 per card. |

Here is one of the pictures. Shot in raw with little editing. Cropped to 8x10" ratio, Sharpened, and resized to web.

Better than mine. :)
Hot is an understatement. We had a bottle of water, and at one point I went to wet a cloth to wipe my daughter's face off. It was warmer than what I usually use for bath water!
If the wind had not been blowing (obviously not as hard as today), I honestly don't think I could have stood it. |

The heat was so bad, after the show yesterday the family and I went back to the hotel "Hampton Inn" on Madison Blvd. I sat at the desk chair with my legs on top of the air conditioner and ate ice chips for about 30 minutes.:) I was so exhausted I crashed cross ways at the foot of our king bed for a couple of hours. |

No kidding. We went back to our rooms on University and even the kids were hard to get out of the cold showers.
Here are some of my shots from the show. |

I think this picture gives us a good example of how hot it was. Look at the heat rising off the pavement behind the solders.
