The *ist DS is so yesterday now I have the K20D in my grubby little paws, oh yeah!

I want to play, but it's blowing a gale and hosing down outside, what to do??

Play inside. It's capable.

I know! Didn't think a photo of my desk chair could be quite so exciting! All these fancy pants buttons screaming at me to push.... :D

Poke a hole in a plastic bag and tape it to your lens hood, instant camera cover! Or, go buy a DA* lens and skip the DIY session...

Hmmm... why do I get the feeling there's something wrong with that advice...? :D

Can't buy any more gear, I've only got one child left to sell and I'm saving her for something really special ;)

Something I can't work out though: Why wouldn't I have the IS on all the time? There's got to be a reason you can turn it off, but why not just leave it on?

Don't need it when it is on a tripod.

That would make sense, thanks!

Actually IS can in fact cause blur or distortion while on a tripod.

Be nice to it, sleep with it and cuddle it for it is your best friend now and all other friends are ... well non-existent, for at least a couple weeks anyways. ;\

I do it all the time, it actually works really well. Especially on weather sealed cameras like the K20D / D200... the bag is pretty much waterproof, and the weathersealing is good insurance!

Sweet, I'll likely be giving it a go this week. We have a couple of days reprieve before the rains hit again :(

I cant remember if you can do this with the Pentax bodies, but I also slide the viewfinder eyecup off, poke another hole in the bag, then slot the eyecup back on and widen the hole til i can see through... holds the whole system in place rather well.
