I think I have asked this before but instead of dig up an old thread I want to comment again. I asked if it were possible to edit the description, not title of a photo during a challenge and was told no, that I could edit it before and afterwards.

This is the reason I originally asked, and I am asking again, is there something foul afoot? Is this a hidden feature? Is it a clever ploy to drive people insane?

From his description...

"First day into voting and I couldnt be more pleased. There are some strong (and I mean STRONG) images in this challenge and even with the score I have I am not sure if it will ribbon if it holds -..."

"...Its been called up for validation as well. No fears there..."

Sooo, either he kept a journal of how things were going and entered that after the challenge, or he edited it during the challenge. If this was just a once occurance I would not think another thing of it, but it is about the 10th entry I've seen that gives the impression the description was changed during voting.

Sorry timfythetoo for singling you out about this, I don't mean to imply any mis-intent on your part, you are just a pawn in my game to slowly over take DPC but I promise I will not crush you when that time comes...

Anyway I just want to make sure this is not a feature I am somehow missing.

Thanks!

There is a way. It is not sneaky or anything like that. Not a security blip, or anything either.

It is not a feature.

SC has been discussing whether to leave it or not.

What fun is it if everyone knows the secret? ;)

How very interesting, thank you SaraR. Who would have guessed it involved so much mathematics. I don't think I will be using that one for sure. You guys must be great with numbers.

It gets pretty messy! But that is to be expected with an elephant, and umbrella, and some peanut butter :)

I have always wondered how he did this also. I tried clicking my heels together 3 times - no luck. Can someone PM me the secret so I can put it in my upcoming book "Secrets of DPC Revealed" which will include some very embarassing details of what goes on inside the SC lounge.

Interesting...This thread got me investigating. I figured out how to change most of the info (location, aperture, ISO, lens, camera, etc.) for a photo currently in voting, but the "title" and "details" sections do not seem to be editable during voting through this particular method.

That is what I like to see, people trying to figure it out before asking! I took a shortcut perhaps but only because I don't want to be banned *puppy dog eyes*, however I did have an idea of how which was pretty close to the end result.

Why does this 'secret' need to be PM'd to everyone? Why can't it be posted in this thread so everyone can use it? Or do you have to be part of the right clique to know the secret handshake?

Because it is a fun secret and secrets best stay secrets when people don't talk about them in the open.

I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy about this site. If you click on a current photo in your portfolio you are able to adjust the settings, but the details field states the following,

"Details:
You cannot edit the details for this entry during voting."

So if someone is editing the details during the voting are they blatantly disregarding this rule? I'm not TOO concerned with being able to edit details during voting. Because in the big scheme of things who cares what someone writes about their photos progress. My concern is this isn't the only secret.

What other secrets are there? Has the SC hired 10 or 15 individuals to hand out threes in the first five minutes of voting to all who are not in this secret club? What's next? We find out Art Roflmao is really langdon :)

Keep that tu tu off and you're golden. Not annoying at all. ;)

Edit:
Realized I'd better clarify that statement. Wear something else besides the tu tu.

Naw, unfortunately I think that's purely volunteer work. The first time I ran into the roll over "1" bandit, I was highly pissed. Then I realized how damn silly it was to keep hitting the update button and checking the score. So I disabled the score til after the challenge. I look at the comments as they accumulate during the challenge and find I can tell how I'm doing just as well.

I don't have an entry in the voting stage now so I can't try out my theory but I think I know how to do it. Or at least it's a way I have not tried before.
