How much does it cost you per mile @ todays gas prices.
*See Chart

*Price per gallon comes from AAA's Media Site For Retail Gasoline Prices and based on regular unleaded

A good link to see how much you spend per year in gasoline based on the make, model, and year of your vehicle.

According to that chart, $0.091 ...

The chart doesn't work for me - our gas is more expensive than the list provided.

Before sending my car in for repair [still in the shop] I was only getting 16-18 mpg when my car list 24/31. I have been telling them [dealer] for a while now about the low mileage. They seemed to keep saying it was driving conditions, habits, etc. I refused to accept that. Come to find out the computer that links the engine and transmission was faulty causing my car to not change gears properly. Was not allowing overdrive and in a lot of cases it would stick in 2nd gear.

With the tune-up and car repaired I should see 24 mpg, I hope!

So is mine, but if we all use the same chart we'll get a "normalized" response, where we compare the cost of operating the vehicles independent of location.

They just had a good discussion on fuel efficiency over at NPR's Science Friday, where someone suggested that a more valuable measure than MPG is dollars/gallons per standard distance. For example, if you assume that the average vehicle is driven 10,000 miles/year, a 10MPG SUV will use 1000 gallons, a 20MPG sedan will burn 500 gallons, and the 50MPG hybrid will need only 200 gallons to drive for a year.

In cases of where the cost is more or less than the national average just divide the cost per gallon by your cars mileage.

I think thats a good discussion. I wish they would require that the manufactures sticker offer a efficiency rating such as on appliances so people could look and see how much it would cost them to drive a particular vehicle per year.
Using the 55%/45% city/Highway rule.

Avg MPG: 27
Avg MPY: 15000
Avg CPG: $4.075 (cost based on delivery month)

Yearly Cost: $2263.89/yr or $188.66/mo.

ETA: I don't think the current gas situation is going to get better anytime soon unless we, the consumers, educate ourselves on the cost associated with driving. The cost on our wallet, cost on the economy, and even more important the
cost to our environment.

I think someone mentioned that they are trying to get such a rating added to the sticker ... similar to the EnergyStar system for appliances.

Nope, chart doesn't work for me either! Driving like a wuss I'll return 60+mpg whilst the last 2,000 spirited miles have returned an average of 51.5mpg and, probably the most fun car to drive I've ever owned!
